Abstract
Kabupaten Lampung Selatan merupakan wilayah yang memiliki karakter heterogen dengan keberadaan komunitas Kristen yang signifikan, termasuk pemeluk agama Protestan sebesar 1,3% dari total penduduk. Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) Distrik XXXII Lampung, yang diresmikan pada 2020, terus mengembangkan sarana peribadatan untuk mendukung pertumbuhan jemaat. Seiring dengan perkembangan jumlah jemaat dan kebutuhan pelayanan gerejawi, HKBP Distrik XXXII Resort Tanjungkarang merencanakan pembangunan gereja baru di wilayah Jatimulyo, Kecamatan Jati Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Konsep perancangan yang diusulkan adalah inkulturasi budaya Batak Toba, yakni proses adaptasi dan integrasi nilai-nilai budaya lokal ke dalam desain arsitektur modern. Pendekatan ini didasarkan pada sejarah HKBP yang berakar dari pekabaran Injil di wilayah Tapanuli pada abad ke-19 dan berkembang dengan menghargai identitas budaya Batak Toba. Secara spasial, desain mengadopsi konsep Huta sebagai unit pemukiman terintegrasi dengan filosofi Jabu (Ruma) dan Sopo sebagai pusat aktivitas, yang diletakkan dalam kerangka kosmologi Melalui inkulturasi budaya dalam arsitektur, gereja HKBP Jatimulyo diharapkan dapat menjadi wujud nyata dari pelestarian warisan budaya, memperkuat identitas komunitas, serta menciptakan tanggung jawab bersama dalam menjaga keberlanjutan budaya dan sejarah. Kata Kunci: HKBP, Inkulturasi, Batak Toba. South Lampung Regency is a heterogeneous region with a significant Christian community, including Protestants, who account for 1.3% of the total population. Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP) District XXXII Lampung, established in 2020, continues to develop worship facilities to support the growth of its congregation. Along with the increasing number of church members and the growing demand for ecclesiastical services, HKBP District XXXII Resort Tanjungkarang plans to construct a new church in Jatimulyo, Jati Agung District, South Lampung Regency. The proposed design adopts the concept of Toba Batak inculturation, which is the process of adapting and integrating local cultural values into modern architectural design. This approach is based on the historical development of HKBP, which originated from the Christian mission in the Tapanuli region during the nineteenth century and has continued to grow while preserving the cultural identity of the Toba Batak people. Spatially, the design adopts the concept of Huta as an integrated settlement unit, incorporating the philosophies of Jabu (Ruma) and Sopo as the center of communal activities within the framework of Toba Batak cosmology. Through the incorporation of cultural inculturation into the architectural design, the proposed HKBP Jatimulyo Church is expected to become a tangible representation of cultural heritage preservation, strengthen the identity of the community, and foster a shared responsibility for preserving the sustainability of Toba Batak culture and history.
