Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran Organisasi Aisyiyah dalam bidang agama dan pendidikan tahun 1917-1930, dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi perempuan Yogyakarta yang mengalami keterbatasan akses dalam memperoleh pemahaman agama, pendidikan, serta keterlibatan dalam kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Perempuan ditempatkan dalam ruang domestik sehingga akses terhadap pendidikan dan kegiatan keagamaan sangat terbatas. Kehadiran Organisasi Aisyiyah menjadi salah satu gerakan perempuan Islam yang berupaya meningkatkan peran perempuan melalui kegiatan keagamaan dan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi apasajakah peran Organisasi Aisyiyah dalam bidang agama dan pendidikan tahun 1917-1930. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian historis dengan tahapan heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu teknik dokumentasi, teknik kepustakaan dan teknik analisis data historis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Organisasi Aisyiyah memiliki peran penting dalam bidang agama sebagai Agen Perubahan Keagamaan (Agent Of Religious Change) dan sebagai Agen Pemberdayaan Perempuan (Agent Of Women Emporwerment). Dalam bidang pendidikan berperan sebagai Pelopor Pendidikan Perempuan, sebagai Agen Perubahan Pendidikan Perempuan (Agent Of Education Change), serta sebagai Agen Peningkatan Kapasitas dan Partisipasi Perempuan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Aisyiyah berhasil menjadi sarana perubahan sosial dari peran domestik (peran yang diberikan) menuju peran aktif (peran yang dicapai) pada bidang agama, pendidikan, serta keterlibatannya dalam kehidupan sosial periode 1917-1930. Kata Kunci: Peran, Organisasi Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, Agama, Pendidikan This study examines the role of the Aisyiyah Organization in the fields of religion and education from 1917 to 1930, against the backdrop of the situation faced by women in Yogyakarta, who had limited access to religious education, formal education, and participation in social life. Women were confined to the domestic sphere, resulting in severely restricted access to education and religious activities. The emergence of the Aisyiyah Organization marked the rise of an Islamic women’s movement dedicated to enhancing women’s roles through religious and educational initiatives. This study aims to identify the roles of the Aisyiyah Organization in the fields of religion and education from 1917 to 1930. The research method employed is the historical research method, comprising the stages of heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The data collection techniques used include documentation, literature review, and historical data analysis. The research findings indicate that the Aisyiyah Organization plays a significant role in the religious sphere as an Agent of Religious Change and as an Agent of Women’s Empowerment. In the field of education, it serves as a Pioneer of Women’s Education, an Agent of Educational Change, and an Agent of Capacity Building and Women’s Participation. The conclusion of this study indicates that Aisyiyah successfully served as a vehicle for social change, transitioning from a domestic role (an assigned role) to an active role (an achieved role) in the fields of religion and education, as well as in its involvement in social life during the period 1917– 1930.
