Abstract
Data PPATK mencatat sekitar 2,7 juta masyarakat Indonesia terlibat judi online periode 2017–2022, sementara RSCM melaporkan peningkatan signifikan pasien kecanduan judi online pada rentang usia produktif (18–35 tahun). Kata Kunci: Judi Online, Persepsi, Sikap, Pemuda The rapid development of internet technology has given rise to various new social phenomena, one of which is online gambling, which has now penetrated nearly all layers of society, including youth. Data from the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) recorded approximately 2.7 million Indonesians involved in online gambling between 2017 and 2022, while Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) reported a significant increase in online gambling addiction patients within the productive age range of 18–35 years. This phenomenon is also prevalent in Tanjung Baru Village, Kedamaian Subdistrict, Bandar Lampung City, where young people spend hours playing online gambling despite being aware of numerous victims suffering from this activity. This study aims to: (1) identify the perception of youth in Tanjung Baru Village toward online gambling, and (2) identify the attitude displayed by youth in Tanjung Baru Village toward online gambling after learning about the many victims of online gambling. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a purposive sampling technique, involving five informants (active players and non-players) analyzed using Sunaryo's perception theory (stimulus reception, processing/evaluation, reaction/interpretation), Darmiyati Zuchdi's attitude structure theory (cognitive, affective, conative), and Herbert Blumer's Symbolic Interactionism Theory (mind, self, society). The findings reveal that all informants, both active players and nonplayers, hold a negative perception of online gambling, albeit with varying degrees of consistency and behavioral manifestation. Among active player youth, an attitude-behavior gap was identified: their cognitive and affective components were already negative after learning about numerous victims, yet their conative component continued to sustain gambling behavior due to addiction, unrealistic optimism, and self-justification mechanisms. In contrast, among non-player youth, all three attitude components were aligned and consistent, leading to active rejection and a preventive social role. This study concludes that awareness of the dangers and victims of online gambling does not automatically alter the behavior of active players, indicating the need for a more humanistic and community-based approach—beyond a purely legal one—in preventing and addressing online gambling among youth.
