Abstract

Bobot badan merupakan parameter penting dalam menentukan nilai ekonomi dan manajemen pemeliharaan sapi potong, namun penimbangan langsung menggunakan timbangan digital masih sulit diterapkan oleh peternak rakyat karena keterbatasan sarana dan biaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pendugaan bobot badan sapi LimPO menggunakan rumus Schoorl, Denmark, dan Winter Eropa serta menentukan rumus yang paling akurat. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada November 2025 di Kecamatan Terbanggi Besar, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah dengan menggunakan 120 ekor sapi LimPO jantan dan betina berumur 2--3 tahun. Peubah yang diamati meliputi lingkar dada, panjang badan, dan bobot badan aktual, kemudian dianalisis untuk mengetahui koefisien korelasi (r), dan koefisien determinasi (R²). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata bobot badan aktual sapi LimPO adalah 375 ± 58,1 kg, dengan lingkar dada 168,6 ± 10,4 cm dan panjang badan 131,3 ± 7,5 cm. Lingkar dada memiliki korelasi sangat kuat dengan bobot badan aktual yaitu r = 0,92 dan panjang badan memiliki korelasi lebih rendah r = 0,78. Sedangkan koefisien determinasi antara lingkar dada dengan bobot badan aktual R² = 0,85 dan panjang badan memiliki korelasi R² = 0,60. Rumus Winter Eropa menunjukkan tingkat akurasi paling tinggi dengan nilai koefisien korelasi tertinggi r = 0,95 diikuti dengan rumus Schoorl dan Denmark dengan hasil yang sama r = 0,92. Begitu juga dengan koefisien determinasi, rumus Winter Eropa menunjukan nilai paling tinggi R² = 0,90 serta rumus Schoorl dan Denmark dengan hasil yang sama R² = 0,85. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa rumus Winter Eropa merupakan rumus yang paling sesuai dan akurat untuk menduga bobot badan sapi LimPO di Kecamatan Terbanggi Besar. Body weight is an important parameter in determining the economic value and management of beef cattle; however, direct weighing using digital scales is still difficult to be applied by smallholder farmers due to limitations in facilities and costs. This study aimed to evaluate the estimation of LimPO cattle body weight using the Schoorl, Denmark, and Winter Europe formulas, as well as to determine the most accurate formula. The study was conducted in November 2025 in Terbanggi Besar District, Central Lampung Regency, using 120 LimPO cattle consisting of males and females aged 2–3 years. The observed variables included chest girth, body length, and actual body weight, which were then analyzed to determine the correlation coefficient (r) and coefficient of determination (R²). The results showed that the average actual body weight of LimPO cattle was 375 ± 58.1 kg, with a chest girth of 168.6 ± 10.4 cm and a body length of 131.3 ± 7.5 cm. Chest girth had a very strong correlation with actual body weight (r = 0.92), while body length showed a lower correlation (r = 0.78). The coefficient of determination between chest girth and actual body weight was R² = 0.85, whereas body length had R² = 0.60. The Winter Europe formula showed the highest level of accuracy with the highest correlation coefficient (r = 0.95), followed by the Schoorl and Denmark formulas, which had the same value (r = 0.92). Similarly, for the coefficient of determination, the Winter Europe formula had the highest value (R² = 0.90), while the Schoorl and Denmark formulas showed the same result (R² = 0.85). Based on the results, it can be concluded that the Winter Europe formula is the most suitable and accurate formula for estimating the body weight of LimPO cattle in Terbanggi Besar District.
