ABSTRAK Industri karet remah menghasilkan limbah yang berpotensi menimbukan pencemaran lingkungan karena mengandung bahan organik yang cukup tinggi. Pemanfaatan limbah cair industri karet merupakan salah satu upaya untuk menghasilkan suatu produk industri melalui sistem produksi bersih (zero waste). Limbah cair industri karet sangat potensial digunakan sebagai media kultivasi mikroalga untuk pengembangan biodiesel yaitu bahan bakar berbasis nabati. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui jenis mikroalga yang dikultivasi pada media limbah cair industri karet remah dalam menghasilkan biomassa tertinggi dan mereduksi cemaran. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan tiga perlakuan jenis alga yaitu Botryococcus braunii, Tetraselmis sp., dan Nannochloropsis sp. sebanyak 25% v/v dibiakkan dalam reaktor terbuka dengan media limbah cair industri karet remah volume kerja 5 L selama delapan hari. Pengamatan yang dilakukan adalah kepadatan sel, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), N-NH3, P-PO4, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), dan biomassa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis mikroalga yang menghasilkan biomassa tertinggi adalah Nannocloropsis sp. dengan kepadatan sel mencapai 5.485 x 104 sel/mL dan menghasilkan yield kering sebesar 0,8383 g/L serta mampu menurunkan cemaran berupa N-NH3 sebesar 99,6%, P-PO4 sebesar 90% dan COD sebesar 22%. ABSTRACT Crumb rubber industry produced waste which could potentially polluted environment because it contained organic matter. Utilization of crumb rubber industrial wastewater was one of the efforts through zero waste production system. Crumb rubber industrial wastewater was potentially used as medium of microalgae cultivation for the development biodiesel. The purpose of this research was to determine the types of microalgae cultivated on crumb rubber industrial wastewater to produce the highest biomass and reduce organic matter. This research was conducted using three types of microalgae that were Botryococcus braunii, Tetraselmis sp. and Nannochloropsis sp. as much as 25% v/v cultured using open reactor in crumb rubber industrial wastewater with 5 L of working volume for eight days. The parameters in this research were the cell density, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), N-NH3, P-PO4, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and biomass. The results showed that the optimum type of microalgae grown in medium crumb rubber industrial wastewater was Nannocloropsis sp. with 5485 x 104 cells / mL of cell density and 0.8383 g/L of dry yield and reduced the organic matter content of wastewater crumb rubber 99.6% of N-NH3, 90% of P-PO4 and 22% of COD respectively.
