The need of nanosize materials, especially in the field of applied material, intensified researchers to develop or modify the preparation method. In this study, nano catalyst Ni(1-x)CoxFe2O4 (where x = 0.1 to 0.3) has been prepared by sol gel – freeze dry method using pectin as an emulsifying agent, and then the sample was subjected to calcination treatment and subsequently characterized using the techniques of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Rietveld and Scherrer Methods, PSA and TEM analysis. Its catalytic activity was tested for CO2/H2 conversion to alcohol at a temperature of 200 - 400oC. The results of XRD characterization indicated that Ni0,7Co0,3Fe2O4 calcined at 600°C materials consist of four crystalline phases which are Fe2NiO4(72.18%), Ni1.43Fe1.7O4 (0.74%), CoFe2O4 (26.20%), and NiO (0.88%). The results of size analysis using both Scherrer method and TEM show that the size of the catalyst is in the range of 9-18 nm. Then, particle size analyzer (PSA) proved that particle size distribution is in the range of 7-17%. Catalytic activity tests showed that Ni(1-x)CoxFe2O4 nanocatalysts are active. Product analysis using gas chromatography indicates that the Ni0.7Co0.3Fe2O4 nanocatalyst calcined at 600°C is the most active for conversion of CO2/H2 at a reaction temperature of 200 °C and ethanol yield is 8166 ppm. Keywords; nano catalysts, pectin, , sol gel – freeze dry, alcohol Kebutuhan pada senyawa berukuran atau berstruktur nano khususnya dalam bidang sintesis material, memacu para peneliti untuk mengembangkan atau memodifikasi metode preparasi bahan nano. Pada penelitian ini telah dibuat nano katalis Ni(1-x)CoxFe2O4 (dimana x = 0,1 - 0,3) dengan metode solgel-freezedry menggunakan pektin, serta dilakukan uji aktivitas katalitiknya terhadap reaksi konversi (CO2 + H2) menjadi alkohol pada suhu 200 – 400oC. Hasil karakterisasi Katalis Ni0,7Co0,3Fe2O4 pada suhu kalsinasi 600 °C menunjukan terbentuknya 4 fasa kristalin yaitu Fe2NiO4 (72,18%), Ni1,43Fe1,7O4 (0,74%), CoFe2O4 (26,20%), dan NiO (0,88%). Hasil analisis ukuran mengunakan persamaan Scherrer dan pengukuran menggunakan TEM menunjukan ukuran katalis pada rentang 9 – 18 nm. Hasil analisis ukuran distribusi partikel menggunakan PSA menhasilkan katalis berskala nanometer pada rentang 7–17 %. Hasil uji aktivitas katalis Ni(1-x)CoxFe2O4 terhadap konversi CO2/H2 menunjukkan bahwa katalis Ni(1-x)CoxFe2O4 aktif dan memiliki selektif yang tinggi. Analisis menggunakan kromatografi gas menunjukkan bahwa katalis Ni0,7Co0,3Fe2O4 pada suhu kalsinasi 600°C dengan suhu reaksi 200 °C paling aktif terhadap konversi CO2/H2 menghasilkan etanol yaitu 8166 ppm.
