haracter education essentially noble will change the attitude and interest of students towards better. There are many kind learning model’s wich able to develop the positive character of students, among them are Problem Solving and Problem BasedLlearning models. This research aims to know the models of learning are more effective for increasing outcomes of the students with an emphasis on the development of students ' character, between Problem Solving or Problem Based Learning. Design experiments on thi s research, using the form Pre Experimental Design with One-Group Pretest-Posttest of type design. In the testing of hypotheses using a Paired Sample T Test and Independent Sample T Test. Based on total score the student’s development character during the learning process which is done by teachers and friend peers students obtainable that the average value of problem solving class is 8.51 with the details of as many as 25 students (83%) categorized the character developments began experiencing positive (developed) and 5 students (17%) have a prominent character (widespread). This is lower than that of the problem based learning is 10.40 with 30 students (100 %) has been having a prominent character (widespread). Based on accumulative values assessment score is N-gain obtained the development attitude of students in the problem solving class is 0.05 (low category), and while in the problem based learning class is -0.15 (low category) that indicates decreasing of the students attitude development. While for the students interest devolepment, N-gain average value score on the problem solving class is -0.04 (low category) that indicates the presence of a decrease in students interest and on the problem based leaning class is 0.23 (low category) but has increasing of the students interest development.
