Abstract
Studi ini dilakukan untuk memeriksa kemungkinan pembentukan kompleks antara logam Ni dan ligan basa Schiff sebagai metode untuk mengukur konsentrasi Ni dalam larutan. Metode ini diusulkan berdasarkan kemampuan ligan untuk berikatan dengan logam transisi disebabkan adanya pasangan elektron bebas pada atom nitrogennya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ion Ni membentuk kompleks dengan ligan basa Schiff (1,5-difenil karbazona dan anilina) pada perbandingan optimum (1:3). Hasil analisis menggunakan Spektrofotometer Ultra Ungu-Tampak menunjukkan panjang gelombang maksimum kompleks dengan kristalisasi adalah 535 nm, sedangkan kompleks tanpa kristalisasi adalah 532 nm. Kedua kompleks ditemukan optimum pada pH=6 dan waktu kestabilan 120 menit, tetapi absorbansi yang lebih tinggi ditunjukkan oleh kompleks tanpa kristalisasi. Diketahui juga penambahan ion Co tidak mempengaruhi serapan karakteristik kompleks. Kata Kunci: Studi Analisis, Nikel, Ligan Basa Schiff, Spektrofotometri Ultra Ungu-Tampak ABSTRACT BAHASA INGGRIS STUDY OF Ni ANALYSIS USING SCHIFF BASE LIGAND (1,5 – DYPHENYL CARBAZONE AND ANILINE) WITH SPECTROPHOTOMETRY ULTRA VIOLET-VISIBLE This study was carried out to asses the feasibility of complex formation between Ni metal and Schiff base ligand as a method for determination of Ni concentration in solution. This proposed method is based on the ability of the ligand to bound with transition metals due to the presence of an unpaired electron in its nitrogen atom. The experimental results indicate that Ni ions formed a complex with Schiff base ligand (1,5-dyphenyl carbazone and aniline) at optimum ratio (1:3). Results of analysis using Spectrophotometer Ultra Violet-Visible showed the maximum wavelength of the crystallized complex is 535 nm, while for the complex without crystallization is 532 nm. Both complexes were found at optimum pH=6 and stability time of 120 minutes, but higher absorbance was exhibited by the complex without crystallization. It was also found that addition of Co ions did not influence the characteristics absorption of the complex.
