Abstrak

There are two ways to enter the Lampung University. They are PKAB (students enter the university without a test) and SPMB (student enter the university with a general test). There is an opinion that PKAB students demonstrate lower achievement than SPMB students. The objective of this research is to find out whether there is a significant difference of achievement between PKAB students and SPMB students. The population of this research consist of the students from Physics Department of Education Grade 2006/2007 and 2007/2008. The sample of this research is 15 students of PKAB and 15 students of SPMB. The data of the research includes the scores from KHS (Result Study Card) from the first semester until the eighth semester for grade 2006/2007 and from the first semester until the sixth semester for grade 2007/2008. The data has been selected from the physics lecture scores and calculated for Grade Personal Achievement (GPA). Yeti Kurniawati The average GPA for PKAB students is 3.25, and the average GPA for SPMB students is 3.08. By using the t-test for two small sample groups (N < 30), it is concluded that there is no relationship between them; it is found that t0 = 0.15. It is lower than the t-tabel; they are 2.05 (for 5 % standard significance) and 2.76 (for 1 % standard significance). Therefore H0 has been acceptable, it means that there is no significant difference of achievement between PKAB students and SPMB students. Key words: PKAB, SPMB, and Achievement.
