ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensistesis keramik silika (SiO2) yang diperoleh dari sekam padi menggunakan metode leaching dengan asam sitrat (C6H8O7) yang dikalsinasi pada suhu 800 ºC, 900 ºC, dan 1000 ºC. Sampel yang diperoleh dikarakterisasi menggunakan Differential Thermal Analysis dan Thermogravimetric Analysis (DTA/TGA), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), XRay Diffraction (XRD), dan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Hasil karakterisasi DTA menunjukkan sifat termal silika terjadi peristiwa penyerapan panas (endoterm) yang mengindikasikan adanya polisakarida dipolimerisasi dan dehidrasi yang masing-masing terletak pada suhu 312 ºC dan 355 ºC. Gugus fungsi yang terbentuk pada karakterisasi FTIR menunjukkan adanya vibrasi ulur – OH dari Si-OH, vibrasi tekuk –OH, vibrasi ulur asimetri Si-O dari Si-O-Si, vibrasi ulur Si-O dari Si-OH, dan vibrasi tekuk Si-O-Si. Gugus fungsi Si-O pada Si-OH menurun pada bilangan gelombang 812,3 cm-1 dengan naiknya suhu pada 1000 ºC. Karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan bentuk amorf ketika dilakukan kalsinasi pada suhu 800 ºC dan fasa tridimit pada suhu 900 ºC dan 1000 ºC. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) menunjukkan luas permukaan dan ukuran pori yang semakin merapat yang disebabkan terjadinya pengerutan partikel silika yang dikalsinasi pada suhu pembakaran yang tinggi. Kata kunci: Asam sitrat, DTA/TGA, FTIR, leaching, sekam padi, SEM, silika dan XRD. The objective of this research is to synthesize of silica (SiO2) ceramics obtained from rice husk by using citric acid (C6H8O7) leaching method and calcined at 800 ºC, 900 ºC, and 1000 ºC. The samples obtained were characterized using Differential Thermal Analysis and Thermogravimetric Analysis (DTA/TGA), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The DTA result showed that thermal properties of silica events heat absorption (endothermic) which indicates the presence of polymerized polysaccharide and dehydration are respectively located at a temperature of 312 ºC and 355 ºC. The functional groups presence in the FTIR result were -OH stretching vibration of Si-OH, -OH bending vibrations, asymmetric stretching vibration of Si-O of the Si-O-Si, Si-O stretching vibration of Si-OH and bending vibrations of Si-O-Si. Si-O functional groups on Si-OH decreased in wavenumber 812.3 cm-1 with a temperature rise at 1000 ºC. XRD result showed that at 800 ºC the phase is amorphous, but at 900 ºC and 1000 ºC the phase present is trydimite. SEM result showed that the surface area and pore size were getting increasingly closer due to the contraction of the silica particles in the calcination at high combustion temperatures. Keywords.
