Abstrak
ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik dan perilaku lovebird jantan dan betina spesies Agapornis fischeri varian hijau standar. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada Februari sampai April 2015 di ruang penangkaran lovebird Jl. Pulau Senopati Desa Jatimulyo, Jati Agung, Kabupaten Lampung Selatan. Objek yang diamati adalah 5 pasang lovebird yang telah mencapai dewasa kelamin (≥9 bulan). Data bobot tubuh jantan dan betina diperoleh melalui penimbangan setelah dilakukan pengamatan perilaku dan dipuasakan terlebih dahulu. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan metode chi-square dengan taraf 5% terhadap karakteristik dan metode focal animal sampling terhadap pengamatan perilaku melalui kamera video. Hasil penelitian tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P>0,05) antara lovebird jantan dan betina terhadap karakteristik meliputi bentuk tubuh, bentuk kepala, dan bentuk bulu ekor. Rata-rata persentase perilaku lovebird meliputi perilaku minum, membersihkan paruh, bertengger, mendekati betina, dan menyelisik pada jantan lebih besar daripada betina. Rata-rata persentase perilaku lovebird meliputi perilaku makan, istirahat, dan bercumbu pada betina lebih besar daripada jantan. Kata kunci: Lovebird Agapornis fischeri, varian, jenis kelamin, karakteristik, dan perilaku ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was identify the characteristics and behaviour of males and females lovebird species Agapornis fischeri of standard green variant. The research has been conducted in February till April 2015 in the lovebird breeding room’s on the Senopati street of Jatimulyo village, Jati Agung, South Lampung. The object being observed are five pairs of lovebird who have reached sexual maturity (≥9 months). The males and females of body weight obtained through scale digital after behaviour observation and fasted it first. The result were analyzed using chi-square method with level of 5% on the characteristics and focal animal sampling method to behaviour observated via video camera. The result of this research showed difference nonsignificant (P>0.05) between of males and females lovebird on the characteristics included body shape, head shape, and tail feather shape. The average percentage of lovebird behaviour were drinking behaviour, cleaning up of beak behaviour, perching behaviour, approached behaviour, and delouse behaviour in males larger than females. The average percentage of lovebird behaviour were eating behaviour, resting behaviour, and flirting behaviour in females larger than males.
