In general, listening is considered as difficult language skills to master. This is because listening involved some aspects of the target language, for example; vocabulary, understanding the sound, grammar, getting the main idea, specific information and reference. Listening is also very important for students to learn since it is one of productive skills, which is frequently used to convey the ideas in communicating with others. In fact, some students have difficulties in listening comprehension, especially in identifying the main idea, specific information and inference of the text. In relation to the problem above, the objective of the research, therefore, is to find out how the use of video movie improves students listening comprehension in the teaching learning process in terms of macro skill ; identifying main idea, specific information, and reference. The subject of this research is the first grade students of SMA YP UNILA in the academic year 2010/2011. The research lasted from November 1 st until November 25 th 2010. A classroom action research is carried out to improve students’ listening comprehension and students’ participation after implementing Video Movie in listening class. In this classroom action research, the researcher acted as the teacher, and the teacher of SMA YP UNILA Bandar Lampung acted as the collaborator and observed his own students. There were two cycles done in this research. The result of the research proves that Video Movie improves students’ listening comprehension. The indicators of the research are concerned on the learning product and learning process. The indicator of the learning product is 80% of students passed the passing grade which is 65 while the learning process is 80% of the students are active during the lesson. In the second cycle, both of the indicators of this research that were students’ listening comprehension score and students’ involvement in the activities were achieved. In students’ listening comprehension score, 81% students passed the passing grade and 83% of students’ actively involved in teaching and learning process. In line with the data, the researcher concludes that Video Movie is applicable to improve students’ listening comprehension and students’ activities during teaching learning process.
