Abstrak

A Lignin was extracted from lignocellulosic waste oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB), by delignification method using sodium hydroxide. The variation of NaOH concentrations were used 2, 4, 6, and 8%. The analysis of isolated lignin was conducted using FTIR, 1H-NMR, dan 13C-NMR, determination lignin in black liquor, purity of lignin, density and pH. The result from determination lignin in black liquor, for each NaOH concentrations were 33.360 mg/mL, 35,546 mg/mL, 37,277 mg/mL, and 39.903 mg/mL. The purity of lignin is 72,73%. Concentration of sodium hydroxide does not effect on density and pH from lignin. Density and pH from lignin are 1,28 g/mL and 2,27. Absorptions FTIR on wave number 1.327,03 cm-1 showed that there were syringyl unit and 1.211,3 cm-1 from guaiacyl unit. The characterization by 1H-NMR have also been performed broad signal at 6.6 ppm which indicated there were 2 aromatic protons from syringyl unit and 7.3 ppm from guaiacyl unit, signal singlet at 3.7 ppm indicated alcohol proton from both units. Spectrum 13C-NMR showed signal at 72.30 ppm and 72.69 ppm which indicated there were C-α from syringyl and guaiacyl units and 101,80 ppm which C-2/C-6 from syringil unit. Lignin telah diisolasi dari limbah lignoselulosa tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKS), menggunakan metode delignifikasi dengan NaOH. Variasi yang dilakukan adalah konsentrasi NaOH 2%-8%. Analisis isolat lignin yang dilakukan meliputi penentuan kuantitatif lignin pada lindi hitam, kadar lignin, densitas, pH, FTIR, 1H-NMR, dan 13C-NMR. Hasil analisis kuantitatif lignin dengan variasi konsentrasi NaOH 2% sebesar 33,360 mg/mL; konsentrasi NaOH 4% sebesar 35,546 mg/mL; konsentrasi NaOH 6% sebesar 37,277 mg/mL; dan konsentrasi NaOH 8% sebesar 39,903 mg/mL. Kadar lignin optimum yang diperoleh pada konsentrasi NaOH 8% sebesar 72,73%. Konsentrasi NaOH tidak memberikan pengaruh yang besar untuk densitas dan pH yang dimiliki lignin. Densitas dan pH lignin yang diperoleh sebesar 1,28 g/mL dan 2,27. Serapan FTIR pada bilangan gelombang 1.327,03 cm-1 yang menunjukan adanya unit siringil dan 1.211,3 cm-1 dari unit guaiasil. Hasil karakterisasi dengan 1H-NMR memberikan sinyal yang melebar pada 6,6 ppm yang mengindikasikan adanya proton dari aromatik unit siringil dan 7,3 ppm dari unit guaiasil, serta sinyal singlet pada 3,7 ppm mengindikasikan adanya gugus alkohol dari kedua unit. Spektra 13C-NMR memperlihatkan sedertan sinyal karbon pada 72,30 ppm dan 72,69 ppm yang mengindikasikan adanya C-α dari unit siringil dan guaiasil dan 101,80 ppm yang mengindikasikan adanya C-2/C-6 dari unit siringil. Kata Kunci : Lignoselulosa, tandan kosong kelapa sawit, lignin, delignifikasi.
