Abstrak Salah satu hal terpenting dari sebuah berita adalah teras berita karena memuat inti berita. Dalam bahasa inggris disebut lead. Hal- hal yang penting diletakkan pada lead agar mempermudah pembaca memahami isi berita.Pada media online, penulisan lead berita juga harus tetap mengindahkan syarat-syarat penulisan lead yang baik. Lead berita yang terdapat pada website Univeristas Lampung (http://www.unila.ac.id) tidak luput dari perhatian penulis sebagai objek penelitian. Tujuannya adalah untuk menemukan kesesuaian penulisan lead berita dengan syarat- syarat penulisan lead yang baik menurut PWI. Selain itu, untuk mengetahui gaya penulisan lead berita pada website Unila. Rumusan masalah untuk penelitian ini adalah “Bagaimanakah penulisan lead pada berita-berita di website Unila pada periode Januari - Februari 2010?” Tipe penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah analisis isi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah penulisan lead berita website Unila pada periode JanuariFebruari 2010 telah sesuai dengan syarat-syarat penulisan lead yang baik. Terdapat 18 lead dari 40 lead berita yang memenuhi 10 syarat penulisan lead yang baik. Sedangkan 22 lead dari 40 lead yang diteliti, hanya memenuhi 7 sampai 9 syarat penulisan lead yang baik menurut PWI. Gaya penulisan lead berita pada website Unila adalah Who-Deskriptif. Gaya ini terdapat pada 21 lead dari 40 lead yang diteliti, yaitu 9 lead pada bulan Januari dan 11 lead pada bulan Februari. Abstract One of the most important things in a news is the leading which involves the headline of the news. The important things are put in it to make the reader understand the content of the news easily. In online media, writting the headlines must also follow the requirements of the good writing to make a lead. The headlines of the news in Lampung University website (http://www.unila.ac.id) also become the attention of the the writer. The aims are to find out the compatibility between the writtings and the requirements based on PWI. Beside that, to find out the writting style of the headlines of the news in University Lampung website. The problem to be solved for this research is “ How is the lead writting of the news in Lampung University website in the period of January-February 2010?” The type of the research is descriptive quatitative and the methode is analisys of content, This research successfully found that the writting lead of Lampung University website in the period of January-February 2010 is compatible with the requirements from PWI. There were 18 news leads compatible with the whole ten requirements for writting the good lead. The other, 22 leads could present point 7 to 9 in the requirements of writting the good lead based on PWI. The classical style of writting the lead in Lampung University website is tend to highlight the element of Who-Descriptive. In the research, this element style were found in 21 lead news (9 leads in January and 11 leads in February) from total 40 leads news.
