Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
Abstract The research aim to know and explain the process of ta‟aruf in forming family and analyze the strength and weakness which consist in the process of ta‟aruf. The research method which used is qualitative, consisting, four informants from the cadre of Partai Keadilan Sejahtera who got married throught the process of ta‟aruf. The data are collected by deep interview, observation, and literary study. The data analysis techniques through three stage, they are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of research shows that the process of ta’aruf is a changing biodata process which conducted by man and women who unmarried mediated by a murobbi in order to hold the wedding. The process of ta’aruf is conducted by setting righ the biodata which continued by the meeting. The process of ta‟aruf is conducted by a lot of consideration, such as the faith consideration, psychology of the couple, occupation, income, health, family, etc. The process of ta’aruf is essentially done to cut the less Islamic traditions in society. The strengths of the ta’aruf are (a) ta’aruf process can maintain the privacy of each party who do ta’aruf, (b) through the ta’aruf process, the future wife or husband can be achieved generally, (c) this process is special because the courtship is conducted after marriage. The weakness of the ta’arufprocess are (a) women spents longer time to wait for biodata reply from man, (b) the introduction process is conducted bashfully, it makes difficult to recognize the character of the couple, (c) it‟s difficult in adaptation and communication after marriage.
