Abstrak

ABSTRAK Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) merupakan bahan baku surfaktan sebagian besar deterjen yang menjadi polutan lingkungan karena pembuangan ke lingkungan yang sangat besar setiap harinya. Bahan ini bersifat toksik karena struktur kimianya yang sulit terurai dilingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan isolat bakteri yang mampu mendegradasi LAS yang diharapkan dapat digunakanuntuk bioremediasi lingkungan yang tercemar LAS. Isolasi dilakukan menggunakan medium ¼ Luria Bertani (LB) yang mengandung 20 ppm LAS dengan metode enrichment. Isolat bakteri pendegradasi LAS menunjukan perubahan warna menjadi kehijauan pada medium LAS-¼ LB baik padat maupun cair. Isolat bakteri tersebut dinamai S3-P-4, merupakan Gram negatif, berbentuk batang pendek dan bersifat motil. Hasil analisis menggunakan metode Methylen Blue Active Subtance (MBAS) menunjukan bahwa isolat S3-P-4 mampu mendegradasi LAS 70-90 % dalam 5 hari pada medium Bushnell Haas, tetapi isolat ini bukan merupakan bakteri terbaik dalam mendegradasi LAS karena kurva degradasi yang ditunjukkan tidak stabil. Kata Kunci : Bioremediasi LAS, enrichment, MBAS. ABSTRACT Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) is raw material for almost all material of detergents. Because of its chemical structural, daily released this compound potentially as water pollutant with decreasing of environmental quality. This research was aimed to isolate LAS degrading bacteria which able to be applied for bioremediation. ¼ Luria Bertani (LB) medium was used for isolation of bacteria. From several experiment, an isolate named as S3-P-4 grew on the medium and anabled changing color of the solid medium to green. The bacteria was Gram negative, short stem shape and motile. Methylen Blue Active Subtance (MBAS) analysis showed that S3-P-4 degraded 70-90 % LAS in 5 days of the culture in Bushnell Haas medium. Although its biodegradability has meassured, because of its growth and longer time for degradation of LAS, its suppose nor to be a best degrader of LAS.
