Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

The objectives of this research were to find out whether authentic materials could improve students’ speaking achievement in procedure texts and to analyze students’ perception about the implementation of authentic materials in second grade of senior high school level. Thirty students of class XI Science 3 at SMA N 15 Bandar Lampung in the year 2016/2017 were selected as the sample of this research. This research used one group pretest and posttest design. The instruments for collecting data were speaking test and questionnaire. The result showed that the students’ speaking achievement taught through authentic materials improved. That the mean score of post test (79.43) was higher than that of the pre test (62.03) and the gain was 17.40. The significant level of data was lower than alpha value (0.00 < 0.05). It could be stated that that authentic materials improved students speaking achievement. On the other hand, the result for students’ perception questionnaire showed that 22 students (73.03%) stated that they were active, they liked and felt satisfied with teaching learning process through authentic materials. Based on the result above, it could be conducted that authentic materials could improve students speaking achievement in procedure texts and made the students satisfied with the teaching learning process.
