Abstrak

ABSTRACT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE MANAGEMENT IN SEKOLAH TUNAS MEKAR INDONESIA BANDAR LAMPUNG By Aries Pratama The aim of the research was to describe the implementation of English as Second Language (ESL) Management in Sekolah Tunas Mekar Indonesia. This reasearch focused on some points, which were: 1) The Planning of ESL Management, 2) The Implementastion of ESL Management, and 3) The Controlling of ESL Management. Qualitative research method which involved data collection techniques through observation, documentation and interviews. The data sources were the leader of ESL Division, the leader of PT Tunas Mekar Indonesia (TMI), Principals of TMI, Human Resources Department (HRD), Public Relations (PR) Divisions, teachers, students, and parents. Data analysis is done by interactive method. The results of research were: 1) The Planning of ESL Management was involving all leaders of divisions who have certain needs on the implementation of ESL management toward their division. The planning was also held base on the vision & mission of ESL Division, Internal & External Conditon of the school, Existing Resources, and The Formulated Strategies 2) The Implementation of ESL Management ran based on the plan formulated before. The organization of leaders and teachers who involved in ESL Management was stucturally developed but showed some errors due to the lack of resources, in quantity. The actuating process performed thoroughly in all divisions, as expected in Kindergarten and Elementary School Level. Other level such Junior High School would need some improvement especially on the number of teacher involved in ESL Management. 3) The Controlling of ESL Management in Sekolah TMI involved all layers of school in supervising, assessing, and giving feedback to the school. All the three stages occured on daily basis giving the school a simulteaneous feed back to control the implementation of ESL Management. Keywords: english as second language management ABSTRAK IMPLEMENTASI MANAJEMEN ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE DI SEKOLAH TUNAS MEKAR INDONESIA BANDAR LAMPUNG Oleh Aries Pratama Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan Manajemen English as Second Language (ESL) di Sekolah Tunas Mekar Indonesia. Fokus penelitian ini adalah Perencanaan Manajemen ESL, Implementasi Manajemen ESL, dan Pengendalian Manajemen ESL. Metode penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Sumber data adalah Kepala Divisi ESL, Pimpinan PT Tunas Mekar Indonesia, Kepala Sekolah, Human Resources Department (HRD), Public Relation (PR), guru, murid, dan orang tua. Analisis data dilakukan secara interaktif. Hasil Penelitian adalah : 1) Perencanaan Manajemen ESL melibatkan seluruh pimpinan divisi di Sekolah TMI yang memiliki kebutuhan atas penerapan Manajemen ESL di divisinya masing-masing. Proses perencanaan manajemen ESL dilakukan berdasarkan visi & misi Divisi ESL, Kondisi Internal dan Eksternal sekolah, Kondisi Sumber Daya, dan juga strategi yang telah dirumuskan, 2) Implementasi Manajemen ESL berjalan sesuai dengan formulasi perencanaan sebelumnya disetiap level pendidikan di Sekolah TMI. Pengorganisasian pimpinan dan guru yang terlibat dalam manajemen ESL dibangun secara terstruktur untuk memastikan pembagian wewenang yang sesuai bagi efektifitas implementasi manajemen ESL. Hanya saja terdapat kekurangan yang perlu diperbaiki khususnya dalam hal kuantitas guru yang dirasakan masih kurang dalam proses Manajemen ESL ini. Proses pelaksanaan berjalan berjalan secara menyeluruh dan sesuai dengan harapan pada Divisi TK dan SD. Tingkat pendidikan lain seperti SMP dan SMA membutuhkan peningkatan dalam hal kuantitas guru yang terlibat dalam manajemen ESL. 3) Pengendalian manajemen ESL di Sekolah TMI melibatkan seluruh unsur Sekolah TMI dalam proses pengawasan, penilaian dan penciptaan umpan balik. Ketiga tahapan tersebut terjadi dalam basis harian sehingga memberikan umpan balik secara terus menerus dan memudahkan sekolah untuk mengendalikan implementasi Manajemen ESL tersebut. .
