Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out whether there was a correlation between students‟ self-efficacy and their writing performance. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Kalirejo in 2015/2016 academic year. The sample of this study numbering of 28 students of a second grade at SMAN in Kalirejo was taken by intact group technique. This research was done in two meetings. In the first meeting, the students were asked to fulfill the questionnaire related to their self-efficacy. In the second meeting, the researcher asked them to make a recount text about their personal life. It was their past experience according to time sequences. The results of this research showed that there was a positive correlation between students‟ self-efficacy and their writing performance. It could be seen that the coefficient correlation is higher than critical value of r-table (0.495>0.374). Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and the research hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is a significant correlation between students‟ self-efficacy and their writing performance. From the data above, it can be concluded that there was a positive correlation between students‟ self-efficacy and their writing performance.
