OpenWrt merupakan distribusi Linux untuk device embedded. OpenWRT menyediakan filesystem yang dapat ditulis dengan manajemen paket. Hal ini akan membebaskan vendor untuk bisa memilih dan mengkonfigurasi aplikasi sehingga dapat mengkustomisasi device melalui penggunaan aplikasi yang cocok. Untuk para pengembang software, OpenWRT adalah sebuah framework untuk membuat aplikasi tanpa harus membuat firmware-nya. Sedangkan untuk pengguna, hal ini berarti kemungkinan untuk mengkustomisasi secara penuh, dalam hal ini digunakan sebagai sistem informasi cuaca. Wireless router HG533 merupakan perangkat yang dapat di-install dengan OpenWRT, selain itu router jenis ini telah mendukung port USB lebih dari satu, sehingga dapat ditambahkan modem dan perangkat penyimpanan eksternal tanpa tambahan USB Hub. Tidak semua orang (khususnya) di Indonesia menggunakan perangkat smartphone untuk mengakses informasi cuaca secara cepat. Karena itu, diperlukan suatu sistem informasi cuaca yang dapat diakses menggunakan Short Message Service (SMS). Setelah melakukan beberapa uji coba, sistem informasi cuaca dengan sistem SMS gateway pada modem router yang berbasis OpenWRT telah berhasil dibuat, dimana sistem dapat menerima SMS permintaan informasi dari user dan menyampaikan data tersebut secara otomatis dengan proses auto reply kepada user melalui SMS. Kata kunci: Cuaca, OpenWRT, SMS gateway ABSTRACT OpenWrt is a Linux distribution for embedded devices. OpenWRT provides writable filesystem with package management. This will free up the vendor to be able to select and configure the application so it can customize the device through the use of suitable applications. For developers, OpenWRT is a framework for creating applications without make its firmware. As for users, it means the possibility to fully customized. In this case, the system used as a weather information system. HG533 wireless router is a device that can be installed with OpenWRT. This type of router can support more than one USB port, so it can be able to use modem and external storage device without using USB Hub. In Indonesia, not everyone has smartphones to get weather information quickly. Because of this, it’s required for a weather information system that can be accessed using Short Message Service (SMS). After doing some experiments and tests, a weather information system with SMS gateway on modem router based on OpenWRT has been successfully made, this weather information system can receive SMS requests for weather information from user and deliver the data automatically with auto reply system to user via SMS.
