Tanah lempung mengalami perubahan volume jika kadar air berubah, Kembang susut tanah yang besar, pada tanah lempung organik umumnya memiliki kuat geser yang rendah. Pada penelitian ini, sampel tanah diambil dari Daerah Jabung, Kabupaten Lampung Timur untuk dilakukan pengujian permodelan laboratorium pada kotak kaca dengan alat vane shear dan direct shear dengan berat tanah yang dipakai ±117.000 gram/ 117 kg Pengujian geser langsung pada kondisi tanah tak jenuh di kedalaman 30 cm didapatkan nilai kuat geser sebesar 0,1286 kg/cm 2 , pada pengujian geser baling didapatkan 0,61 kg/cm 2 dengan daya dukung tanah sebesar 1,4103 kg/cm , kedalaman 50 cm didapatkan nilai kuat geser sebesar 0,1196 kg/cm , pada pengujian geser baling didapatkan 0,61 dengan daya dukung tanah sebesar 1.7018 kg/cm 2 . Pada kondisi tanah jenuh kedalaman 30 cm didapatkan nilai kuat geser pada pengujian geser langsung sebesar 0,1286 kg/cm 2 , pada pengujian geser baling sebesar 0,61 kg/cm 2 dengan daya dukung tanah sebesar 1,0347 kg/cm , kedalaman 50 cm didapatkan nilai kuat geser sebesar 0,0861 kg/cm , pada pengujian geser baling didapatkan 0,46 kg/cm 2 dengan daya dukung tanah sebesar 1,3997 kg/cm 2 . Dari hasil pengujian uji geser langsung dan uji geser baling diketahui bahwa nilai kuat geser pada uji geser langsung lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan uji geser baling. Kata kunci : Vane Shear, Direct Shear, Kuat Geser Tanah, Daya Dukung Tanah ABSTRACT The limited area for civil construction is affecting people to make building construction upper the clay- organic. The soil that contains much of clay sustain have volume alteration when it have different water content. Substraction of water content effect clay-shrinking and otherwise if water content is increasing, the clay is swelling. Substantial-swelling effect upper construction structure because the sustain volume of soil make construction become unsafety that needed some particular treatment. That will endanger construction upper the soil, because the clay- organic have a low shearing strain. The speciment of investigation soil was obtained in Jabung, East Lampung. The speciment of soil obtain direct shear and vane shear modeling test using glass box with contain ±130.730gram/ 130.7kg of soil. Direct shear test for 30 cm depth below surface undrained soil obtain some result. The result are for shearing strain is 0.1286 kg/cm 2 , shearing strain of vane shear test is 0,61 kg/cm 2 , and the value of bearing capacity is 1,4103 kg/cm . for 50 cm depth below surface undrained soilinto obtain result for shearing strain is 0.1196 kg/cm 2 , shearing strain of vane shear test is 0,61 kg/cm 2 , and the value of bearing capacity is 1,7018 kg/cm 2 . Direct shear test for 30 cm depth below surface drained soil obtain result for shearing strain is 0,1286 kg/cm 2 , shearing strain of vane shear test is 0,61 kg/cm 2 , and the value of bearing capacity is 1.0347 kg/cm , for 50 cm depth below surface drained soil obtain result for shearing strain is 0,0861 kg/cm 2 , shearing strain of vane shear test is 0,46 kg/cm 2 , and the value of bearing capacity is 1.3997 kg/cm 2 . From the direct shear and vane shear test, it was obtained that shearing strain in direct shear test is lower than vane shear test.
