Abstrak

ABSTRAK PENGARUH MIKROSTRUKTUR ASPAL AKIBAT PENAMBAHAN SILIKA SEKAM PADI Oleh ENDAH AYU NINGTIAS Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan silika terhadap mikrostruktur, densitas, dan porositas aspal yang dibuat dari bahan aspal keras, dan silika diekstraksi dari sekam padi menggunakan metode sol-gel. Perbandingan massa aspal dan silika yaitu 1:1,8; 1:1,9; dan 1:2 dioven pada suhu 100oC selama 4 jam. Mikrostruktur sampel dianalisis dengan Scanning Electron Microscopy/ Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) dan dilakukan uji fisis meliputi densitas dan porositas. Hasil analisis SEM menunjukkan mikrostruktur sampel dengan penambahan silika berbentuk butiran dan adanya pori-pori. Ukuran partikel rata-rata masing-masing sampel yaitu 2,291 µm, 2,063 µm, 2,184 µm. Penambahan silika 1,8 sampai 1,9 menunjukkan nilai densitas yang menurun sedangkan porositas meningkat. Kata Kunci: aspal, silika, sol-gel. ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF ASPALT MICROSTRUCTURE DUE TO ADDITION RICE HUSK SILICA BY ENDAH AYU NINGTIAS The research was aimed to study the effect of adding silica to microstructure, density, and asphalt porosity which were made from hard asphalt matter and extracted silica of rice husk using sol-gel method. The ratio mass of asphalt and silica were 1:1,8; 1:1,9; and 1:2 which were roasting at 100 oC for 4 hours. The microstructure was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) and physical test including density and porosity. The results of SEM analysis show microstructure of samples were granules with some porous. The particle size each samples were 2,291 µ m, 2,063 µ m, and 2,184 µ m. Addition silica 1,8 to 1,9 show decreasing density value meanwhile porosity was increased. Key words: asphalt, silica, sol-gel.
