Abstract

ABSTRAK PEMANFAATAN KULIT BUAH KAKAO (Theobroma cacao L) SEBAGAI SUMBER NUTRIEN DALAM KULTUR Spirulina sp. Oleh YULI WIDAYATI Spirulina sp. adalah mikroalga yang memiliki kandungan nutrisi tinggi, sehingga banyak digunakan dalam industri farmasetik, makanan, pakan dan akuakultur. Penggunaan dan permintaan mikroalga semakin meningkat setiap tahunnya, sehingga perlu dilakukan berbagai upaya agar produksi dan kualitas Spirulina sp. yang dihasilkan semakin optimal. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan kulit buah kakao sebagai sumber nutrien dalam kultur Spirulina sp.. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Budidaya Perikanan, Jurusan Budidaya Perairan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung, Bandar Lampung. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Apabila hasil uji antar perlakuan berbeda nyata maka dilakukan uji lanjut beda nyata terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 95 %. Bahan uji yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Spirulina sp. yang dikultur pada botol kaca 250 ml dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Media kultur yang digunakan mengandung akuades dan ekstrak media cair kulit buah kakao. Penambahan nutrien kulit buah kakao yang diberikan sebesar A (0%), B (1%), C (3%), D (5%), dan E (7%). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan nutrien kulit buah kakao dapat meningkatkan kepadatan populasi Spirulina sp.. Penambahan nutrien sebesar 3% pada media kultur menghasilkan kepadatan populasi Spirulina sp. tertinggi yaitu sebesar 2,362 x 105 unit/ml pada jam ke-120 (hari ke-5 kultur). Suhu, pH dan intensitas cahaya selama kultur berada dalam kisaran optimal. Kata Kunci :kandungan nutrisi, kulit buah kakao, mikroalga, nutrien, Spirulina sp. CULTURE By YULI WIDAYATI Spirulina sp. is a microalgae that has a high nutrient content, so it is widely used in aquaculture, health, feed, and food industries. The use of microalgae and demand of this microalgae are increasing every year, so it is necessary to make some efforts on increasing production and quality of Spirulina sp. the purpose of this study was to examine the use of cocoa’s exocarp as a source of nutrients in cultured Spirulina sp..This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung, Bandar Lampung. The study design used was completely randomized design (CRD). If there is a difference in treatment then using Least Significant DifferenceTest (LCD). The material used in this study is Spirulina sp. Were cultured in 250ml glass bottles with 5 treatments and 3 replications. Culture media were used containing distilled water and extract of cocoa’s exocarp. The treatment used were A(0%), B(1%), C(3%), D(5%), and E(7%). The results showed that the addition of cocoa’s exocap nutrients can improve population density of Spirulina sp..The concentrate of nutrients by 3% in the culture medium resulted the highest population density of Spirulina sp.2,362 x 105 unit’s/ml at 120 hours(day 5 of culture).
