Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
The objectives of these research are to describe and analyze the involvement of the school committee as the advisor, support as the controller and mediator in improving the quality of vocational education in SMKN 2 Metro. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data were collected by in-depth interview techniques, observations, and study documentations from some informans as follow : school commitee, headmaster, teachers, SMK advisor, and students parents. The data analysis were analyzed by applying data reductions, data displays, and giving conclusions. The checking of data validity is done in credibility, dependability and confirmability. The reserch findings show that the establishment of the committee was referring to the provisions of laws and involved elements of teacher councils, communities, government, business communities or industries. The prominent roles of the committee are their giving considerations related to the provision and support , while the committee's role as a controller is still limited in the use of school budgets and less touching on academic issues and evaluation of school performance. So that the role of mediation needs to be improved since the school requires collaboration with many elements. The school commitee is as an independent organization who help the school in giving supports to realize the qualified education in SMK N 2 Metro. Keywords : School committees, Education Quality. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendiskripsikan peran komite sekolah sebagai pemberi pertimbangan, dukungan, pengontrol dan mediator, dalam peningkatan mutu pendidikan di SMK Negeri 2 Metro. Penelitian dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan studi kasus. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara yang mendalam, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi dengan informan sebagai berikut : Komite sekolah, Kepala sekolah, guru, pengawas, orang tua siswa SMK Negeri 2 Metro. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Untuk pengecekan keabsahan data dilakukan dengan kredibilitas, dependabilitas, dan konfirmabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembentukan komite telah mengacu pada ketentuan peraturan perundangan dan melibatkan unsur dewan guru, masyarakat, pemerintah dan kalangan dunia usaha dan industri. Peran komite sekolah yang menonjol terkait dengan pemberian pertimbangan dan dukungan, sedangkan peran komite sebagai pengontrol masih terbatas dalam penggunaan anggaran sekolah dan kurang menyentuh pada masalah akademik dan evaluasi kinerja sekolah. Begitu juga peran mediasi didukung oleh stakeholder, mengingat SMK melakukan kerjasama dengan banyak unsur. Komite sekolah sebagi organisasi independen sangat membantu mewujudkan pendidikan yang bermutu di SMK Negeri 2 Metro. Kata kunci : Komite sekolah, Mutu Pendidikan
