Abstract

Golongan Putih merupakan salah satu bentuk kurang berhasilnya demokrasi di Indonesia. Apalagi jika hal tersebut dilakukan oleh mahasiswa yang merupakan agen perubahan dan merupakan calon pemimpin di masa depan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana fenomena golongan putih dikalangan mahasiswa Jurusan Ilmu Pemerintahan Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Lampung pada pemilu legislatif tahun 2014. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode “purposive sampling”, yang dianggap tahu (key informan) dan dapat dipercaya untuk menjadi sumber data yang mantap dan mengetahui masalahnya secara mendalam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, mahasiswa yang melakukan golput termasuk dalam tipe mahasiswa yaitu: 1) Idealis konfrontatif, yaitu mereka aktif dalam aksi-aksi demonstrasi memperjuangkan hak-hak rakyat yang tertindas dan bersifat non kooperatif terhadap pemerintah. 2) Idealis realistis, yaitu mereka yang aktif dalam diskusi dan cenderung kooperatif. 3) Oportunis, yaitu mereka yang berpihak kepada pemerintah. 4) Professional, yaitu mereka yang tidak memiliki ketertarikan dengan politik. 5) Glamour, yaitu mereka yang sangat mengikuti mode. Perilaku golput mahasiswa pada penelitian ini termasuk dalam kategori golput teknis dan golput politis, tetapi tidak termasuk ke dalam kategori golput ideologis. Status mahasiswa sebagai penduduk pendatang mengakibatkan sebagian mahasiswa tidak menggunakan hak pilihnya dikarenakan masalah-masalah teknis. Menurunnya kepercayaan mahasiswa terhadap pihak-pihak yang terkait pada penyelenggaraan pemilu juga berdampak pada keputusan mahasiswa memilih golput. Mahasiswa pada penelitian ini tidak termasuk dalam kategori golput ideologis. Hal itu dikarenakan mahasiswa-mahasiswa tersebut tidak menganut ideologi atau paham tertentu dan bukan merupakan fundamentalis agama tertentu. Kata kunci: golongan putih, mahasiswa, pemilihan umum. White Group is one of the less successful form of democracy in Indonesia. Especially if it is done by a student who is a change agent and a prospective future leaders. This study aims to determine how the phenomenon of white group among student of governmental studies, Department of Social Sciences and Political Science, University of Lampung in legislative elections in 2014. This research is descriptive qualitative research. This study uses “purposive sampling”, which is considered to know (key informants) and can be trusted to be a steady source of data and figure out the problem in depth. Based on the results of the study, students who do abstentions included in the type of student that is: 1) Idealists confrontational, that they are active in the demonstrations for the rights of oppressed people and the non-cooperative nature of the government. 2) Idealists realistic, they are active in discussions and inclined to cooperate. 3) Opportunist, those who side with the government. 4) Professional, those who have no interest in politics. 5) Glamour, they are very fashionable. Behavior abstentions students in this study are included in the category of technical abstention and politically abstention, but do not fall into the category of ideological abstention. Student status as migrants resulted in many students do not use their right to vote due to technical problems. Declining trust students to related parties in the elections also have an impact on the decision of the student chose abstention. Students in this study was not included in the category of ideological abstention. That's because the students do not subscribe to a particular ideology and not a fundamentalist religion.
