Abstrak

Suatu konstruksi bangunan sipil membutuhkan pondasi yang kuat dan kokoh sebagai pendukung konstruksi di atasnya, untuk mewujudkannya dibutuhkan kekuatan tanah dasar yang baik. Tetapi pada kenyataannya, tidak semua tanah memiliki sifat-sifat dan mekanis yang baik dan diinginkan dalam kondisi aslinya. Pada penelitian ini membandingkan nilai kuat tekan bebas ( UCS ) yang didapat dengan pemadatan menggunakan kadar air optimum standard proctor dan modified proctor. Sampel tanah yang di uji pada penelitian ini adalah tanah lempung berpasir yang berasal dari daerah Kampung Baru, Bandar Lampung. Tanah yang digunakan ada enam sampel untuk pengujian UCS. Masing-masing untuk pengujian pemadatan secara standard dan secara modified. Berdasarkan pemeriksaan sifat fisik tanah asli, AASHTO mengklasifikasikan sampel tanah pada kelompok A-6 (tanah berlempung) sedangkan USCS mengklasifikasikan sampel tanah sebagai tanah lempung berpasir dan termasuk ke dalam kelompok CL. Hasil penelitian di laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa lapisan tanah sangat berpengaruh pada pengujian tanah, dan dapat memperbaiki sifat fisik dan mekanik tanah lempung berpasir. Pada pengujian mekanik pemadatan secara Standard dan Modified dapat meningkatkan nilai Kuat Tekan Bebas tanah tersebut. Kata kunci : Tanah Lempung Berpasir, Pemadatan Standard Dan Modified Dan Kuat Tekan Bebas (UCS). (A construction needs a strong and stable foundation to support construction above the foundation. A proper basic soil strength is required to realize the strong foundation. In facts, not all soils have good mechanical and desired properties. This research was to compare unconfined compression stress (UCS) obtained with compaction using optimal water content with standard proctor and modified proctor. Soil sample to test in this research was clay sand soil from Kampung Baru area, Bandar Lampung. There were six soil samples for UCS testing. Each testing used two samples for standard and modified compaction testing. The original soil physic property test result showed that AASHTO classified the soil sample into A-6 group (clay soil), while USCS classified soil sample into clay sand soil and belonged to CL group. Results of analysis in laboratory showed that soil layer significantly influenced the soil testing and was able to improve physical and mechanical properties of clay sand soil. Both standard and modified compaction were able to improve values of unconfined compression stress of the soil.
