Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari transpor fenol menggunakan Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) dengan senyawa carrier kopoli(Eugenol-EGDMA). Beberapa parameter yang mempengaruhi proses transpor fenol telah dilakukan diantaranya pH fasa sumber, konsentrasi fasa penerima, ketebalan membran dan waktu transpor, mempelajari kinetika reaksi yang terjadi pada proses transpor dan studi kompetitif fenol terhadap kompetitor logam Pb(II) dan Cu(II). Karakterisasi PIM dilakukan menggunakan SEM untuk mengetahui morfologi permukaan membran dan FTIR untuk mengetahui interaksi antara fenol dengan kopoli (Eugenol-EGDMA). Konsentrasi fenol ditentukan dengan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis menggunakan reagen 4-aminoantipirin pada λ maksimum = 456 nm, sedangkan konsentrasi logam ditentukan menggunakan metode spektrofotometri serapan atom. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada pH fasa sumber 5,5; konsentrasi NaOH fasa penerima 0,5 M; ketebalan membran 25,5 x 10-2 mm, fenol tertranspor secara optimal selama 48 jam dengan removal fenol mencapai 91,65 % dan recovery sebesar 90,82% . Transpor fenol mengikuti kinetika reaksi orde 2 dengan nilai fluks (J) 6,43 x 10-3 mg/m2s. Selektifitas PIM dalam mentransfor fenol dalam campuran Pb(II) dan Cu(II) cukup baik. Meskipun adanya kompetitor logam menyebabkan penurunan transpor fenol sebesar 34,23 %, logam tertranspor hanya berkisar 0,1 % (Pb) dan 0,87 % (Cu). Kata kunci : Fenol, Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM), Kopoli (Eugenol- EGDMA) ABSTRACT This study was aimed to investigate a phenol transport by using Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) with copoly (Eugenol-EGDMA) as a carrier. Several parameters that influence the phenol transport process had been carried out, i.e., pH of the source phase, NaOH concentration in the receiving phase, membrane thickness, and transport time. Reaction kinetics happened in the process of transport and phenol competitive study toward metal competitor of Pb(II) and Cu(II) were also learned. Membrane characterization was done by using SEM in order to find out the morphology of membrane surface and FTIR in order to find out the interaction between the phenol and the copoly (Eugenol-EGDMA). The concentration of phenol after the transport was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry method with reagen 4-aminoantipirin in maximum λ = 456 nm, while the metal concentration was determined by using atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. The result of this study showed that pH of the source phase was 5.5; NaOH concentration in the receiving phase was 0.5 M; membrane thickness was 25.5 x 10-2 mm, phenol optimally transported in 48 hours with removal phenol reached 91,65 % and recovery was 90.82%. Phenol transport followed orde 2 reaction kinetics with flux (J) 6.43 x 10-3 mg/m2s. Membrane selectivity was quite good, even though the metal decreasing the transport phenol 34.23 %, transported metals were only 0.1 % (Pb) and 0.87 % (Cu).
