Background: Smoking is a lifestyle that is currently one of the causes of health problems. Every year the number of smokers has increased. Airway irritation by cigarette smoke and other toxic substances will cause an airway inflammatory reaction. Various ways to avoid cigarette smoke bad effect have been tried, one of them is by placing Sansevieria sp in the room that can absorb air pollution, especially cigarette smoke. Objective: To determine the effect of Sansevieria sp as a biofilter on tracheal cell damage in Sprague Dawley rats. Method: Experimental research with Posttest Only Control Group Design. This study used 25 Sprague Dawley (Rattus norvegicus) male rats randomly selected and divided into 5 groups namely, K1 (negative control), K2 (positif control / 2 cigrarettes per day), P (Treatment / 2 cigrarettes per day and placed the Sansevieria sp in the cage). Result: Average damages on K- 0.16, K- 1.86, P 0.53. One Way Anova test was 0.000 (p <0.05). Post Hoc LSD test found significant differences between the K- and K+, K- and P, K+ and P. Conclusion: There was an effect of Sansevieria sp as a biofilter on tracheal cell damage in Sprague Dawley rats Keywords: Cigarette smoke, tracheal histopatology, Sansevieria sp Latar Belakang: Kebiasaan merokok merupakan gaya hidup yang saat ini menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan yang perkembangannya sangat cepat. Iritasi saluran napas oleh asap rokok dan bahan toksik lain akan menimbulkan reaksi inflamasi saluran napas. Berbagai usaha untuk menghindari asap rokok telah dilakukan oleh pihak-pihak yang peduli kesehatan, salah satunya dengan cara meletakkan tanaman lidah mertua (Sansevieria sp) di ruangan maupun di jalanan yang mampu menyerap polusi udara terkhusus asap rokok. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui pengaruh tanaman lidah mertua (Sansevieria sp) sebagai biofilter terhadap kerusakan sel trakea tikus galur Sprague dawley. Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dengan Posttest Only Control Group Design. Penelitian ini menggunakan 25 ekor tikus jantan (Rattus norvegicus) galur Sprague dawley yang dipilih secara random dan dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok yakni, K-(kontrol negatif), K+ (kontrol positif / 2 batang rokok per hari), P (Perlakuan / 2 batang per hari dan diletakkan tanaman lidah mertua). Hasil: Rerata kerusakan yakni K- 0.16 , K+ 1.86, P 0.53. Uji One Way Anova 0,000 (p<0,05). Uji Post Hoc LSD ditemukan perbedaan rerata signifikan antara kelompok K- terhadap K+, K- terhadap P, K+ terhadap P. Simpulan: Terdapat pengaruh tanaman lidah mertua (Sansevieria sp) sebagai biofilter terhadap kerusakan sel trakea tikus putih galur Sprague dawley.
