Abstrak

ABSTRAK Tumbuhan ketapang merupakan tumbuhan tropis dari famili combretaceae yang banyak ditemui di Indonesia khususnya di daerah Lampung. Konsentrasi tanin yang tinggi ditemukan dihampir setiap bagian dari tumbuhan ketapang, termasuk bagian daun.Tanin dapat digunakan sebagai inhibitor korosi yang aman dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengekstraksi senyawa tanin dari daun ketapang menggunakan pelarut etanol serta mengkaji pengaruh penambahan inhibitor senyawa tanin dari ekstrak daun ketapang untuk menurunkan laju korosi. Sebanyak 200 gram serbuk daun ketapang dimaserasi dengan pelarut etanol, kemudian diekstraksi menggunakan pelarut n-heksana. Filtrat dari masing-masing pelarut diuji fitokimia menggunakan FeCl3 dan larutan gelatin untuk mengetahui adanya senyawa tanin pada filtrat. Identifikasi senyawa tanin dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometer IR dan UV-Vis. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji korosi menggunakan metode weight loss dan potensiometri. Analisis morfologi permukaan sampel baja lunak serta analisis komposisi kimia baja lunak dikerjakan menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi larutan inhibitor 50% v/v merupakan konsentrasi inhibitor optimum dalam menghambat proses korosi baja lunak dalam larutan garam, dengan persen proteksi inhibisi sebesar 90,48% pada uji korosi menggunakan metode weight loss dengan variasi waktu 72 jam dan 1,83% pada uji korosi menggunakan metode potensiometri. Kata kunci : tanin, inhibitor, korosi, potensiometri. ABSTRACT Terminalia catappa is a tropical native plants of the family combretaceae are widely found in Indonesia, especially in the area of Lampung. High concentration of tannin found in almost every part of a plant ketapang, includes parts leaves. Tannin can be used as corrosion inhibitors are safe and environmentally friendly. Research is aimed for extracting compound tannin of leaves ketapang use solvent ethanol and examine influence the addition of inhibitor compound tannin of an extract leaves ketapang to lower the rate of corrosion. Two hundred grams of leaves ketapang macerated ethanol, with a solvent then extracted using diluent n-heksana. Filtrat of each solvent tested phytochemical use FeCl3 and solution of gelatin to know the presence of a compound tanin in filtrat. Identification of a compound of tannin done by using spectrofotometer IR and Uv-Vis. Next test the corrosion uses the method weight loss and potensiometry. Analysis morphology surface samples soft steel and analysis chemical composition soft steel using Scanning Electron Microscope - Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The results showed that the inhibitor concentration 50% v/v is the optimum concentration of inhibitors in the process of inhibiting corrosion soft steel in the brine solution with percent protection of inhibition 90,48% for methods weight loss with variation of time 72 hours and 1,83 % for methods potensiometry.
