Writing is one of language skills which is considered difficult for the learners and needed a special attention because it requires some processes, including planning, drafting, and editing. Due to that matter, this research proposed two kinds of proper techniques to improve students’ writing, namely Teacher’s Direct Feedback and Teacher’s Indirect Feedback techniques. This research had two objectives:to find out whether there was a significant difference between descriptive writing achievement of the students in teacher’s direct feedback class and in teacher’s indirect feedback classand to find outwhich aspect of writing that improved the most after the implementation ofthose feedback techniques in terms of micro skills. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Trimurjo, Central Lampung, at the first semester of 2018/2019 academic year. Two classes were used in this research because this research attempted to compare the two techniques. The researcher used quantitative approach. The writing tests were administered to the students both before the treatments and after the treatments of each technique. With regard to the data analysis, the two feedback techniques were effective to improve the students’ descriptive writing. Furthermore, both of the feedback techniques were not only effective in improving students’ descriptive writing in general, but also effective in improving students’ score in all aspects of writing: content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanics. Content was the aspect of writing that improved the most by bothfeedback techniques in terms of micro skills. In addition, the statistical analysis showed that there wasdifferent improvement of students’ descriptive writing between the students who were taught through Teacher’s Direct Feedback and Teacher’s Indirect Feedback technique; the result showed that Teacher’s Indirect Feedback was better than Teacher’s Direct Feedback. Keywords: descriptive writing, teacher’s feedback, direct feedback, indirect feedback.
