Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Reading is one of the most important skills that needs to be comprehended well. High school students found difficulties in comprehending an English text. Therefore, in this research the researcher used mind mapping technique to increase students’ reading comprehension ability. This research is intended to find out whether there is significant increase of the students’ reading comprehension ability after being taught through mind mapping technique and also intended to find out the most and the least increase in reading aspects. The research was quantitative which used a one group pre test- post test design. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMAN 2 Natar of academic year 2019/2020. There were two classes taken by purposive sampling used in this research, X MIPA 2 was the tryout class wich consisted of 30 students and X MIPA 1 as the experimental class which consisted of 28 students. The instrument for collecting data was multiple choice in form of reading comprehension test. The collected data in form of scores were analyzed by using t-test in which the significance was determined by p<0.05. The research was conducted from 21st August to 6th September 2019. The instruments was reading tests. The results of this research showed that there is a significant increase of students’ reading comprehension after being taught through mind mapping technique. It could be seen from the result which showed that the significance level of p < 0.05 (p=.000), in which the students’ mean score in the pre test was 82.36 with an increase of 95.02 in post test. It can be concluded that vocabulary is the aspect of reading which increases the most and finding detail information is the aspect of reading which increases the least. It can be inferred that mind mapping technique increases reading comprehension ability of report text.
