Perkawinan merupakan salah satu peristiwa yang sangat penting karena menyangkut tata cara nilai adat dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Setiap daerah memiliki adat istiadat yang berbeda salah satunya adat Palembang yaitu betangas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan ritual betangas dan makna pesan dalam proses ritual pelaksanaan betangas pada pernikahan adat di Nunyai. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tipe penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi setelah data terkumpul kemudian di analisis secara kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa proses pelaksanaan ritual betangas pernikahan adat di Nunyai masih dijalankan sampai saat ini dan acara betangas akan dilaksanakan sore hari sehari sebelum resepsi pernikahan berlangsung. Makna komunikasi non verbal tradisi betangas adalah bentuk kepatuhan masyarakat setempat dalam melestarikan kebiasaan nenek moyang agar tradisi ini terus berlanjut sampai ke generasi selanjutnya. Makna komunikasi verbal dalam tradisi betangas pada prosesi pernikahan adat masyarakat di daerah Nunyai terdapat dalam doa-doa yang dibacakan didalam proses pelaksanaan tradisi betangas. Makna Tradisi Betangas ini menyatakan bahwa kebudayaan tidak hanya terdiri dari benda atau peristiwa yang dapat diukur, diamati, dan dihitung, tetapi kebudayaan terdiri dari gagasan dan makna. Kata kunci: pesan moral, tradisi, betangas Marriage is one of the most important events because it involves the procedures for customary values in social life. Each region has different customs, one of which is the Palembang custom, namely Betangas. This study aims to determine the process of implementing the betangas ritual and the meaning of the message in the ritual process of implementing the betangas at a traditional wedding in Nunyai. The type of research used in this study is a quantitative research type using descriptive methods. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation after the data was collected and then analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the process of implementing the traditional wedding betangas ritual in Nunyai is still being carried out today and the betangas event will be held in the afternoon the day before the wedding reception takes place. The meaning of non- verbal communication of the betangas tradition is a form of compliance with the local community in preserving the habits of their ancestors so that this tradition will continue to the next generation. The meaning of verbal communication in the betangas tradition in the traditional wedding procession of the people in the Nunyai area is found in the prayers that are read in the process of implementing the betangas tradition. The meaning of this Betangas Tradition states that culture does not only consist of objects or events that can be measured, observed, and counted, but culture consists of ideas and meanings.
