Abstrak

The present study was aimed (i) to find out the significant difference in writing achievement between the students taught through the modified Think-Pair-Share and those taught through original Think-Pair-Share, and (ii) to find out the correlation between students’ writing attitudes and their writing achievements. The subjects of this research were the second grade students of SMA IT Ar-Raihan Bandar Lampung. This study used control group pre-test post test and co-relational design. Thus the data were obtained from the pre-test, post test, and writing attitudes questionnaire. The result shows that there is a statistically significant difference writing achievement between the students taught through the modified Think-Pair-Share and those taught through original Think-Pair-Share. It is revealed from t-value which is higher than t table with the significance level of less than 0.05 (2.469 >2.011). (0.017<0.05). As a result, the hypothesis is accepted. It indicates that the modified Think-Pair-Share is one of the factors which affects the students’ writing achievements. Furthermore, the writing achievement of the students taught through the modified Think-Pair-Share increases higher than the writing achievements of those taught through the original Think-Pair-Share. On the other hand, the other result reveals that there is no correlation between students’ writing attitudes and their writing achivements. Therefore, the second hypothesis is rejected. So, it can be concluded that modified Think-Pair-Share is better than the original think-pairshare to improve the students’ writing achievements, especially in organization aspect and there is no correlation between the students’ attitudes and their writing achievements.
