Film the platform menceritakan tentang kehidupan dalam sistem penjara vertical yang diperankan oleh Goreng (Ivan Massagué) yang memutuskan untuk masuk ke Vertical Self-Management Center. Film ini secara implisit menggambarkan bagaimana realita masyarakat yang berada di kelas atas dan di kelas bawah. Bagi masyarakat yang berkecukupan, mereka dapat mengakses segala fasilitas serta mendapat privilege, sedangkan bagi masyarakat bawah, untuk makan pun mereka sulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui representasi kritik sosial dalam film The Platform. Tipe penelitian yang digunakan adalah tipe penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotik Roland Barthes, peneliti ini memfokuskan pada karakter tokoh, adegan, latar, dan dialog pada film The Platform. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini berupa data primer dan sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Film The Platform merepresentasikan kritik tentang sistem yang berlaku di masyarakat. Sikap masyarakat yang individualis dan sistem kapitalis yang tidak setara, membuat persaingan yang ketat sehingga yang kuat akan semakin kuat dan yang lemah akan semakin lemah. Film ini menunjukkan bagaimana hakikat manusia yang selalu merasa kurang, dan selalu ingin mendapatkan lebih dari apa yang ingin dimilikinya, sehingga menciptakan ketidaksetaraan di antara para penghuni lubang. Individualisme manusia akan menciptakan keserakahan, menciptakan kapitalis yang menjadi umum di masyarakat, sedang sosialis, akan tergerus keadaan zaman, dan bertolak belakang dengan hakikat keserakahan manusia tersebut. Kata kunci: film the platform, kritik sosial, representasi. The Platform film tells the story of life in a vertical prison system, played by Goreng (Ivan Massagué) who decided to enter the Vertical Self-Management Center. This film implicitly describes how the reality of society is in the upper and lower classes. For people who are well off, they can access all facilities and get privileges, while for the lower class it is difficult for them to even eat. This study aims to determine the representation of social criticism in The Platform film. The type of research used is a descriptive qualitative research type. This study uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, this researcher focuses on the characters, scenes, settings, and dialogues in The Platform film. Sources of data in this study in the form of primary and secondary data. The results of the study show that The Platform film represents a critique of the system prevailing in society. The attitude of the individualist society and the unequal capitalist system creates intense competition so that the strong will be stronger and the weak will be weaker. This film shows how it is human nature to always feel less, and always want to get more than what he wants to have, thus creating inequality among the inhabitants of the hole. Human individualism will create greed, create capitalists who become common in society, while socialism, will be eroded by the conditions of the times, and contradict the nature of human greed.
