Otomasi Perpustakaan adalah salah satu penggunaan perangkat komputer dengan menggunakan sistem untuk melakukan layanan yang ada di Perpustakaan dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak yang memadai sehingga dapat dioperasikan dengan baik oleh tenaga pustakawan yang ada. Dalam siklus perkembangan teknologi informasi berbasis web sendiri, pangkalan data sangat dibutuhkan karena merupakan komponen penting dari sistem informasi di samping sebagai penentu kualitas informasi. Penulisan ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif melalui studi kasus dan studi lapangan yaitu tahapan penelitian dilaksanakan dengan menghimpun sumber kepustakaan, baik primer maupun skunder. Dengan melakukan klasifikasi data berdasarkan formula penelitian pada tahap pertama penulis melakukan pengelolaan data atau pengutipan referensi. Tahap dua, penulis juga melaksanakan melalui studi lapangan. Tahap yang terakhir yang dilakukan penentuan lokasi penelitian, responden, dan informan. Dari hasil wawancara yang dilakukan penulis terhadap kepala Perpustakaan Ibu Luckty Giyan Sukarno, S.Sos mengatakan bahwa penerapan aplikasi SliMS 8 Akasia di Perpustakaan SMA Negeri 2 Metro di terapkan pada tahun ajaran 2011/2022. Pengolahan aplikasi SLIMS ini dinilai untuk merespon kemajuan teknologi dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan siswa. Penginstalan aplikasi SLIMS sangat penting dilakukan, mengingat siswa-siswi kini ada di era teknologi 4.0 Kualitas perangkat lunak SLiMS Versi 8 Akasia telah memenuhi spesifikasi dan cakupan minimal sebagai perangkat lunak otomasi perpustakaan, walupun sesekali muncul pernyataan error pada saat menjalankan menu terlebih ketika proses instalasi karena terkait dengan berjalannya aplikasi pendukung. Fitur baru sangat memungkinkan untuk ditambahkan dan modifikasi mudah dilakukan terlebih didukung didukung dengan sifat open source perangkat lunak SLiMS Versi 8 Akasia. In the cycle of the development of web-based information technology itself, databases are needed because they are an important component of information systems in addition to determining the quality of information. By classifying data based on the research formula in the first stage, the author manages data or citations. Phase two, the authors also carried out through field studies. The last stage is carried out determining the location of the study, respondents, and interview. From the results of an interview conducted by the author with the head of the Library, Mrs. Luckty Giyan Sukarno, S.Sos said that the application of SliMS 8 Acacia at the Sma Negeri 2 Metro Library was implemented in the 2011/2022 school year. The processing of the SLIMS application is considered to respond to technological advances in improving the quality of student education. The installation of the SLIMS application is very important to do, considering that students are now in the era of technology 4.0 The quality of the SLiMS Version 8 Acacia software has met the specifications and minimal coverage as library automation software, even though occasionally error statements appear when running the menu, especially during the installation process because it is related to the running of supporting applications. New features are very likely to be added and modifications are easy to do, especially supported by the open source nature of SLiMS Version 8 Acacia software.
