ABSTRAK UJI DAYA HAMBAT EKSTRAK DAUN LIDAH MERTUA (Sansevieria trifasciata laurentii) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus dan BAKTERI Salmonella typhi Oleh KURNIA HADI SAPUTRA Latar Belakang: Penyakit infeksi dan menular masih merupakan penyebab utama tingginya angka kematian di Indonesia dan di seluruh dunia. Beberapa bakteri patogen dapat menimbulkan infeksi contohnya seperti Staphylococcus aureus dan Salmonella typhi. Tanaman lidah mertua mengandung senyawa yang bisa berfungsi untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri yaitu tanin, saponin, dan flavonoid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan daya hambat ekstrak lidah mertua terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan bakteri Salmonella typhi. Metode Penelitian: Desain penelitian ini adalah observasional laboratorik. Penelitian ini menguji daya hambat ekstrak daun lidah mertua dengan konsentrasi 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, dan 20% terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan bakteri Salmonella typhi dengan metode dilusi untuk menilai kadar hambat minimum (KHM) kadar bunuh minimum (KBM). Hasil Penelitian: Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya daya hambat ekstrak lidah mertua terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan bakteri Salmonella typhi pada konsentrasi 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, dan 20%. Untuk KHM didapatkan pada konsentrasi 20% dan KBM pada konsentrasi 40%. Simpulan: Terdapat daya hambat ekstrak lidah mertua terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan bakteri Salmonella typhi. Kata Kunci : daun lidah mertua, daya hambat, salmonella typhi, staphylococcus aureus ABSTRACT INHIBITORY TEST OF SNAKE PLANT EXTRACT (Sansevieria trifasciata laurentii) AGAINTS Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi BACTERIA By KURNIA HADI SAPUTRA Background Infectious and communicable diseases are still the main cause of the high mortality rate in Indonesia and worldwide. Some pathogenic bacteria can cause infection, for example Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi. Snake plant contains compounds that can function to inhibitory bacterial growth, namely tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory ability of snake plant against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi bacteria. Method: The design of this study was true observasional laboratory. This study examined antibacterial activity of honey pineapple peel extract at concentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, dan 20% against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi bacteria with dilution method to assess the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). Result: The results of this study showed that there was an inhibitory of snake plant extract against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi bacteria at concentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40%, and 20%. The MIC was obtained at a concentration of 20% and MBC at a concentration of 40%. Conclusion: There is an inhibitory effect of snake plant extract against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi bacteria.
