ABSTRACT FACTOR CAUSING THE DEFEAT OF THE INCUMBENT NANANG-PANDU IN NATAR SUB-DISTRICT (The Case Study Of Local Elections In Kabupaten Lampung Selatan For The Year 2020) BY Dara Indira Adinda Narra The return of the incumbent in the regional head election should first evaluate how he performed when he was still in office. The loss of Nanang, who is the incumbent, attracted attention when he suffered a defeat that only lost in the constituency of Natar District. What factors influenced the defeat of Nanang-Pandu and what were the implications of the incumbent's defeat in the Regional Head Election in Natar District. This study will use a qualitative method with a descriptive type. The focus of this study emphasizes the defeat of the incumbent which only occurred in Natar District. A vital tool in winning the Regional Head Election lies in social capital which pays attention to economic capital and political capital owned. By using a political communication strategy both ways, plans, and efforts to achieve the desired goal is the key to the success of political partners in a contestation. The Covid-19 phenomenon that has caused a decrease in public participation, many registered people do not get the C6 form, the lack of community proximity to the candidate pair, coupled with the issue of the estrangement of the Nanang-Pandu pair who are never seen together when meeting the community. Maximizing strengths so as to generate new opportunities that have an impact on the image of the candidate pair, as well as the need for a special strategy for the candidate pair in dealing with unexpected situations. Keywords: Elections, Incumbent Pairs, Losses ABSTRAK FAKTOR PENYEBAB KEKALAHAN PETAHANA NANANG-PANDU DI KECAMATAN NATAR (Studi Kasus Pilkada Di Kabupaten Lampung Selatan Tahun 2020) Oleh Dara Indira Adinda Narra Kembalinya petahana dalam pemilihan kepala daerah hendaklah harus mengevaluasi terlebih dahulu bagaimana kinerjanya ketika masih memegang jabatan. Kalahnya Nanang yang merupakan petahana menarik perhatian ketika dia mengalami kekalahan yang hanya kalah di daerah pemilihan Kecamatan Natar saja. Faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi kekalahan Nanang-Pandu serta bagaimana implikasi kekalahan petahana dalam ajang Pemilhan Kepala Daerah di Kecamatan Natar.Penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan tipe deskriptif. fokus pada penelitian ini menekankan pada kekalahan petahana yang hanya terjadi di Kecamatan Natar.alat vital dalam memenangkan Pemilihan Kepala Daerah terletak pada modal sosial yang memperhatikan modal ekonomi, dan modal politik yang dimiliki. Dengan menggunakan strategi komunikasi politik baik cara, rencana, dan upaya untuk mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan merupakan kunci dari keberhasilan pasangan politik dalam sebuah kontestasi. Fenomena Covid-19 yang membuat adanya penurunan partisipasi masyarakat, banyak masyarakat yang terdaftar tidak mendapatkan form C6, kurangnya kedekatan masyarakat dengan pasangan calon, ditambah dengan isu kerenggangan pasangan Nanang-Pandu yang tidak pernah terlihat bersama saat menemui masyarakat. Memaksimalkan kekuatan sehingga menghasilkan peluang baru yang berdampak ada citra pasangan calon, serta perlunya strategi khusus pasangan calon dalam menghadapi situasi yang tidak terduga.
