ABSTRACT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE METHOD IN TEACHING ADJECTIVE FOR YOUNG LEARNERS The aim of this research to see whether there is improvement of the students' vocabulary achievement that focused on adjective after they taught using Total Physical Response method. Adopting quantitative approach, the researcher used single group pre test-post test design. This study used one class which contained 23 students from SD Al-kautsar Bandar Lampung as the subject of the research. The findings of this study, the fourth grade students at SD Al-Kautsar Bandar Lampung who were taught using the Total Physical Response method had better vocabulary achievement. Based on the test results and data analysis, there was an improvement in students' achievement in adjective vocabulary after the Total Physical Response method was implemented in SD Al-kautsar Bandar Lampung. It could be seen from the improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement in the pre-test and post-test. The mean score improved from 58.87 in the pre-test to 85.43 in post-test. Moreover from the result of the hypothesis testing, it shows the Sig value of .000, which means the hypothesis is accepted because it was <0.05. From the study, the research had proven that Total Physical Response could make the young learners achieve the knowledge about adjective words. Keywords: teaching vocabulary, adjective, total physical response, students’ vocabulary achievement.
