Village development has the aim of increasing the welfare of rural communities and building self-sufficiency. Efforts made by the government to realize village development through the establishment of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes). The purpose of this study is to determine the role and success of BUMDES, and the factors related to the role of BUMDes, as well as the relationship between the role of BUMDes and the success of BUMDes. This research was conducted in Pesawaran District. The research method used is a quantitative method. The population in this research is BUMDes members. Respondents who were studied were 64 people using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out in April-May 2023. The analytical method used was descriptive analysis and the Rank Spearman correlation test. The results of this study indicate that the role of BUMDes is included in the classification of roles, especially in improving the village economy, optimizing village assets, increasing community businesses, and creating market opportunities and networks. The success rate of BUMDes is included in the successful classification, especially in terms of the level of community satisfaction and the level of ability of members to carry out their duties. The amount of capital, level of motivation, community participation and government support have a real relationship with the role of BUMDes. The role of BUMDes is significantly related to the success of BUMDes. Keywords : BUMDes, role, society, success, village Pembangunan desa memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa dan membangun kemandirian. Upaya yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah untuk mewujudkan pembangunan desa melalui pembentukan Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes). Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui peranan dan keberhasilan BUMDES, dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan peranan BUMDes, serta hubungan peranan BUMDes dengan keberhasilan BUMDes. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kabupaten Pesawaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif. Populasi dalam..penelitian ini..yaitu pengurus BUMDes dan masyarakat desa. Responden.yang diteliti.sejumlah 64 orang dengan menggunakan tehnik purpossive sampling. Pengambilan data dilaksanakan pada bulan April–Mei 2023. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan uji korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peranan BUMDes termasuk dalam klasifikasi berperan, terutama dalam meningkatkan perekonomian desa, mengoptimalkan aset desa, meningkatkan usaha masyarakat, serta menciptakan peluang dan jaringan pasar. Tingkat keberhasilan BUMDes termasuk dalam klasifikasi berhasil terutama dalam hal tingkat kepuasan masyarakat dan tingkat kemampuan anggota dalam menjalankan tugas. Jumlah modal, tingkat motivasi, partisipasi masyarakat dan dukungan pemerintah mempunyai hubungan yang nyata dengan peranan BUMDes. Peranan BUMDes berhubungan nyata dengan keberhasilan BUMDes tersebut. Kata kunci: BUMDes, desa, keberhasilan, masyarakat, peranan
