Peningkatan kasus positif Covid-19 varian omicron terbesar di Lampung terjadi di Kota Bandar Lampung, yakni 112,94 kasus per 100.000 orang per minggu pertengahan bulan februari 2022. Kurangnya pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pentingnya vaksin untuk pencegahan Covid-19 dapat dilihat dari jumlah masyarakat yang tidak mau melaksanakan vaksin dan penularan Covid-19 varian omicron yang begitu cepat mengalami peningkatan sehingga sangat diperlukan strategi komunikasi pemerintah kepada masyarakat mengenai permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis strategi komunikasi pemerintah yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah Kota Bandar Lampung dalam upaya penanganan Covid-19 varian omicron dan menekan penyebaran Covid-19 varian omicron di Kota Bandar Lampung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif dengan data yang bersumber dari hasil wawancara dengan informan yang memiliki kepentingan dalam proses penanganan Covid-19 serta dokumentasi secara langsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi yang dilakukan oleh Pemerintah Kota Bandar Lampung dalam upaya penanganan Covid-19 yaitu membuat empat strategi yang secara konsisten dilakukan untuk menguatkan kebijakan physical distancing sebagai strategi dasar demi mengatasi pandemi virus Covid-19. Strategi ini dihimbau untuk dilakukan oleh seluruh masyarakat Kota Bandar Lampung dan terbukti efektif mampu menekan penurunan jumlah Covid-19 varian omicron di Kota Bandar Lampung dengan jumlah kasus ditahun 2021 sebesar 8.584 menjadi 6.315 kasus di tahun 2022. The largest increase in positive cases of Covid-19 for the omicron variant in Lampung occurred in Bandar Lampung City, namely 112.94 cases per 100,000 people per week in mid-February 2022. The lack of public understanding of the importance of vaccines for preventing Covid-19 can be seen from the number of people who do not want to carry out vaccines and the transmission of the Covid-19 variant of the omicron which has increased so quickly that a government communication strategy is urgently needed to the public regarding this problem. The purpose of this study was to analyze the government communication strategy carried out by the Bandar Lampung city government in an effort to handle the omicron variant of Covid-19 and suppress the spread of the omicron variant of Covid-19 in Bandar Lampung city. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data sourced from interviews with informants who have an interest in the process of handling Covid-19 and direct documentation. The results of the study show that the strategy adopted by the City Government of Bandar Lampung in efforts to deal with Covid-19 is to make four strategies that are consistently carried out to strengthen the physical distancing policy as a basic strategy to overcome the Covid-19 virus pandemic. This strategy is encouraged to be carried out by all the people of Bandar Lampung City and has proven to be effective in reducing the number of Covid-19 variants of the omicron in Bandar Lampung City with the number of cases in 2021 of 8,584 to 6,315 cases in 2022.
