Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Reading comprehension is one of fundamental skills that allows students to learn new vocabulary and concepts and to access different types of reading materials. However, many students find it difficult to comprehend a reading text. Hence, the researcher tried to implement audiobook in teaching reading comprehension. The objectives of this research are to find out if the use of audiobook is effective to increase students’ reading comprehension of narrative text, and to investigate the students’ perception on the use of audiobook in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text. The researcher used pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was 8th grade students at Sekolah Alam Lampung. The instruments used in this study were reading comprehension test and interview. The data were analyzed by using Repeated Measures T-Test in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software in which the significance was determined by p<0.05. The result of the research showed that the mean score of pre-test was 36 while the post-test was 55.5. The value of significance was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the hypothesis was accepted; therefore, there is a significant difference between students reading comprehension of narrative text after teaching by using audiobook. Moreover, the researcher used interviews to investigate the students’ perception after the implementation of audiobook in teaching reading comprehension. It was found out that the students gave both positive and negative perceptions. Most of the students considered that the use of audiobook in narrative text reading comprehension was enjoyable and helpful, but there were a few students who considered otherwise. Thus, based on the result, it is concluded that audiobook can be applied to increase students’ reading comprehension of narrative text.
