Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, penilaian terhadap penampilan fisik sering menjadi perbincangan ringan, terutama di era digital yang memunculkan fenomena body shaming di media sosial. Sutradara Ernest Prakasa mengadaptasi novel Meira Anastasia ke dalam film "Imperfect: Karir, Cinta, & Timbangan," yang mengajak penonton untuk menerima dan mencintai diri sendiri di tengah standar kecantikan yang tidak realistis. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengeksplorasi makna body shaming dalam film tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film ini menyoroti tekanan sosial terkait standar kecantikan, dengan karakter utama, Rara, menghadapi body shaming karena penampilannya dianggap tidak sesuai norma. Film ini secara tegas menggambarkan dampak negatif body shaming terhadap kondisi mental dan memberikan pesan tentang pentingnya menerima dan mencintai diri sendiri tanpa terpaku pada ekspektasi fisik yang tidak realistis. Melalui metode semiotika, penelitian ini mengungkapkan makna teks body shaming dalam elemen visual dan dialog film. Simpulan dari hasil penelitian ini yakni dampak psikologis dari ekpolitas bentuk tubuh yang digambarkan dalam film yang menimbulkan norma-norma kecantikan dilingkungan sosial menciptakan tekanan besar, terutama pada perempuan, mengubah persepsi tubuh, dan menimbulkan dampak negatif. Kata kunci: Film "Imperfect”, Analisis Semiotika, Body Shaming, Bentuk Tubuh. In everyday life, judgment of physical appearance often becomes a lighthearted conversation, especially in the digital era that has given rise to the phenomenon of body shaming on social media. Director Ernest Prakasa adapted Meira Anastasia's novel into the movie "Imperfect: Career, Love, & Scales," which invites the audience to accept and love themselves in the midst of unrealistic beauty standards. This study uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis to explore the meaning of body shaming in the movie. The results show that the movie highlights the social pressure related to beauty standards, with the main character, Rara, facing body shaming because her appearance is deemed not up to the norm. The movie explicitly depicts the negative impact of body shaming on mental state and provides a message about the importance of accepting and loving oneself without fixating on unrealistic physical expectations. Through the semiotic method, this research reveals the meaning of body shaming text in the visual elements and dialog of the film. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the psychological impact of body shape polarity depicted in the film which raises beauty norms in the social environment creates great pressure, especially on women, changes body perception, and has a negative impact.
