Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
The objective of this research was to find out if there is any significant improvement in students’ speaking achievement after being taught by using Communicative Language Teaching in terms of grammar, vocabulary, fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension. The CLT activities chosen by the researcher to be implemented were role-play and information-gap activities. The research was conducted for 5 meetings in September 2023 at SMP Islam YPI 1 Seputih Mataram. The subjects of the study were the 7th-grade students of SMP Islam YPI 1 Seputih Mataram and Communicative Language Teaching. Speaking test was the instrument to measure the pre-test and post-test. The speaking test was scored by an inter-rater, on the other hand, the mean score of the pre-test and post-test analyzed in SPSS determined the significant improvement of CLT. Therefore, the mean of the pre-test (27,47) showed an increase in the post-test (47) with pronunciation as the highest increased component with 81% improvement. The result of the t-value (16,171) is higher than the t-table score with the significance of 2-tailed 0,000 lower than 0,05. This means H1 is accepted.
