Abstract

In this study, the transformation of zeolite-P from Lampung natural zeolite and the addition of aluminum foil were used as catalysts for coconut oil pyrolysis to produce bio crude oil (BCO). Lampung natural zeolite was transformed with the addition of aluminum using hydrothermal method with Si/Al ratio 2.0 and without and with calcination temperature variation of 600, 700, and 800 °C. The transformed products were specified as Zeo-C, Zeo-P1, Zeo-P2, and Zeo-P3. XRD analysis results showed the presence of crystalline and amorphous phases, the targeted zeolite-P crystals were obtained from all transformed zeolites, but in different amounts and the most optimal was Zeo-P1. The SEM analysis results also showed agreement with the XRD results where rectangular-prism-shaped zeolite-P crystals were found in Zeo-C, Zeo-P1, Zeo-P2, and Zeo-P3, and in Zeo- P2 and Zeo-P3 needle-like sodalite crystals were found. The BCO produced using Zeo-P1 as catalyst had the highest hydrocarbon content and biogasoline fraction of 61.31 and 38.24%, respectively.
