Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

This research aimed to find out the students' problems in learning speaking performance and the most dominant students' speaking problems. The objectives of this research are to find out what make students felt difficult to speak in English at SMPN 24 Pesawaran. This research used a qualitative method and the instruments are questionnaire and interviews. Based on the analysis data of the research, the researcher concludes: There are several causes of students' problems in practicing speaking English. The problems faced by students in practicing speaking English were anxiety, fear of making mistakes, embarrassment, lack of student motivation, and the use of the mother tongue. That is because the students do not master the three main elements of speaking: vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. It can be seen that there are problems for students in speaking class. The questionnaire results showed that questions 1 and 10 explained the percentage of fear of making mistakes. Questions 3 and 4 showed the percentage of vocabulary problems. Questions 5 and 6 showed the percentage of pronunciation. Questions number 7 and 8 showed the percentage of anxiety problems. Questions no. 2 and 9 showed the percentage of grammar. Then, questions 11 and 12 showed the percentage of shyness. Questions 13 and 14 showed the percentage of lack of motivation, and finally, questions 15 and 16 showed the percentage of mother tongue problems in students' speaking class. The most dominant student speaking the problem is vocabulary. From the data obtained, 22 out of 30 or 73% of students stated they did not master English vocabulary. As a result, they speak English disorganizedly and often confuse others when they convey the presented ideas. It makes them shy and afraid to speak English. Keywords: Analysis, Speaking, Problems.
