Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran project based learning terhadap pemahaman konsep pembelajaran PPKn pada peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 30 Bandar Lampung. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 60 responden yang terdiri dari 30 responden kelas eksperimen dan 30 responden kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis statistik deskritif yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data penelitian berupa pemahaman peserta didik dalam pembelajaran PPKn sebagai hasil dari penerapan model project based learning pada kelas eksperimen. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti bahwasannya terdapat perbedaan pemahaman materi kebangkitan nasional pada peserta didik yang menerapkan model project based learning (kelas eksperimen) dibuktikan dengan N- Gain Score mempunyai efektifitas tes(soal pilihan ganda). Pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen lebih interaktif dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol dilihat dari banyaknya peserta didik yang mengajukan pertanyaan, menjawab pertanyaan, mendengarkan penjelasan guru, menjelaskan dan memberi contoh serta menyimpulkan materi yang telah dipelajari. Hasil posttest dari kelas eksperiman dan kontrol mengalami perbedaan di mana hasil kelas eksperimen lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Pemahaman materi kebangkitan nasional peserta didik di kelas eksperimen dengan model pembelajaran project based learning berkategori efektif sedangkan di kelas kontrol yang menerapkan model diskusi berkategori kurang efektif. Kata Kunci : Project Based Learning, Pemahaman, Model Pembelajaran The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of project based learning model on understanding the concept of PPKn learning in class VIII students SMP Negeri 30 Bandar Lampung. This type of research is an quantitative study with the quasi experimental design method. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis which is used to describe research data in the form of students' understanding of Civics learning as a result of implementing the project based learning model in the experimental class. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers, there are differences in understanding of national awakening material among students who apply the project based learning model (experimental class) as evidenced by the effectiveness of the N- Gain Score test (multiple choice questions). Learning in the experimental class is more interactive compared to the control class as seen from the number of students who ask questions, answer questions, listen to the teacher's explanation, explain and give examples and conclude the material they have learned. The posttest results from the experimental and control classes experienced differences where the results of the experimental class were superior to the control class. Students' understanding of national awakening material in the experimental class with the project based learning model was categorized as effective, while in the control class which applied the discussion model was categorized as less effective.
