Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

This research aimed to find out whether there was a statistically significant improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement after the implementation of word mapping strategy at the seventh grade students and to find out students’ responses after they were taught by word mapping strategy. This research was quantitative research using one group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this research was 32 students of class VII B of MTs Guppi Natar in academic year of 2023/2024. The instrument used for collecting the data was reading test and questionnaire. In order to analyze the result, paired sample t-test was used. The result show that the increase of the students’ mean score in the pre-test was 49.69 and the students’ mean score in the post-test was 80.50, there was a statistically significant improvement of students’ vocabulary achievement with the significant level (0.00<0.05) and the t-value (17.541) were higher than t-table (2.042). The results of students’ responses showed that they agreed (3.70) that thisstrategy helped them realize learning from teacher and work independently. Furthermore, students believed that this strategy provided opportunities for independent learning and was an effective way to practice vocabulary. Overall, students were very satisfied with the implementation of this strategy and considered it a valuable learning experience. Therefore, it can be concluded that word mapping strategy can be used to improve students' vocabulary achievement. Keywords: vocabulary achievement, word mapping, teaching vocabulary
