Abstract

This study examines research trends among English Education students at the University of Lampung over the past six years (2019–2024). This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach to analyze 240 bachelors of Department language and Arts theses archived in the university’s digital repository. The study categorizes research trends based on language aspects and skills, classification, grade level, gender distribution, research methods, and text genres. The findings reveal a dominance of quantitative research methods (89%), with experimental studies (77.5%) being the most commonly used. Most research focused on Senior High Schools (SMA), while female students (84%) outnumbered male students. In terms of language aspects and skills, reading (26.3%), writing (22.9%), and vocabulary (21.3%) were the most frequently studied areas. Additionally, descriptive and narrative texts were the text genres that were most analyzed. The results strongly favour structured, data-driven research, emphasizing practical applications in English language education. These findings provide valuable insights into student research patterns and offer a foundation for future academic exploration.
