Abstract
This study aims to analyze the performance of a capillary mat irrigation system using a substrate mixture of cocopeat and charcoal, as well as to evaluate water use efficiency and productivity of three types of leafy vegetables (pakchoy, lettuce, and caisim) at two capillary mat installation lengths, namely 50% and 100% of the total bed length. This study employed a Split-Plot Design within a Completely Randomized Design with 18 plants and 6 beds. The results showed that using a capillary mat at 100% length provided a larger water supply, but did not show a significant difference in water use efficiency compared to the 50% mat length. The average water productivity for treatments M1 and M2 was 48.69 g/L and 49.86 g/L, respectively. Plant type influenced growth and yield, with Chinese cabbage showing the highest yield. Plant growth and productivity based on mat size (M1 and M2) did not differ significantly. The study recommends the use of a 50% mat (M1) for the production of pakcoy and lettuce in a capillary irrigation system. The study suggests selecting plants with uniform planting periods, using an automatic temperature and RH (Relative Humidity) control system in the greenhouse, and measuring water levels using sensors with high sensitivity and accuracy. Keywords: capillary irrigation, capillary mat, water efficiency, substrate hydroponics, water productivity Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kinerja sistem irigasi kapiler (capillary mat) menggunakan media substrat campuran cocopeat dan arang sekam, serta mengevaluasi efisiensi penggunaan air dan produtivitas tiga jenis tanaman sayuran daun (pakcoy, selada, dan caisim) pada jenis ukuran pemasangan capillary mat, yaitu panjang 50% dan 100% dari total panjang bed. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terbagi dalam Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 18 tanaman dan 6 bed. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan capillary mat sepanjang 100% memberikan suplai air yang lebih besar, namun tidak menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan terhadap efisiensi penggunaan air dibandingkan dengan panjang mat 50%. Rata-rata produktivitas air untuk perlakuan M1 dan M2 masing- masing sebesar 48,69 g/L dan 49,86 g/L. Jenis tanaman berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil panen, dengan caisim menunjukkan hasil tertinggi. Pertumbuhan dan produktivitas tanaman berdasarkan ukuran mat (M1 dan M2) tidak berbeda nyata. Penelitian merekomendasikan penggunaan mat 50% (M1) untuk produksi sayuran pakcoy dan selada dalam sistem irigasi kapiler. Penelitian menyarankan pemilihan tanaman dengan periode tanam seragam, penggunaan sistem kendali suhu dan RH (Relative Humidity) otomatis pada greenhouse, dan pengukuran ketinggian air menggunakan sensor dengan sensitivitas juga keakurasian yang tinggi.
