This study examines the effect of the dictogloss technique on students’ descriptive writing achievement. Using a quantitative pre-test and post-test design, this research involved second-year students of SMAN 9 Bandar Lampung in the 2023/2024 academic year. Students were taught using a modified dictogloss technique, where they listened to speed-tiered recorded texts, took notes, and collaboratively reconstructed the text. The results showed a significant improvement, with the mean pre-test score of 73.88 increasing to 79.19 in the post- test. The study concludes that dictogloss is an effective technique for improving students’ descriptive writing skills and recommends its use in writing instruction. Future research may explore its application in different learning contexts and with other text genres. Keywords — dictogloss, writing achievement, descriptive text, collaborative learning
